"I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe."
My sister is a Whisperer--also known as a Mind Reader. She can tell exactly what you're thinking, and if you think her name and get her attention, she can have a full on conversation with you without anyone finding out what you two are talking about. She can talk to you in your mind, by sending you mind messages, and no one will know a thing about it.
She can't read my mind unless I formally invite her in by saying her name. I don't really know why, I think it's because we're blood related and our connection is stronger than others so I can rebel against her gift.
I have tried calling on Tami, trying to get any form of communication from her, but so far, it's been no use.
It's been about 6 hours since Mrs. Knight examined the cut on my foot, and I'm walking perfectly normal now.
So I pace back and forth in my living room, despite Brent and Ari's attempts to get me to sit down.
"Fate," Ari says, trying to get me to stop. "What's it gonna take for you to not pace around the room?"
I hold my hand up to silence her. "Let me think," I snap.
She slumps back down on the couch. Brent looks to her and she nods once.
He stands up and walks towards me.
"Touch me, I dare you." I growl, staring daggers at him.
He stands there for a moment, thinking about what to do next. He wraps his arms around me, picks me up, and throws me on the couch, with an annoyingly hot smile painted on his face.
I glare at him for a second, then dart up from the couch, grab his wrist and twist it around his back and put him in a hold.
"Ow!" He exclaims, trying to wriggle out of my grasp.
"I warned you, did I not?" I snap, letting go.
"You are such an idiot." Ari laughs.
He scowls at her.
"Well," Ari yawns, standing up. "It's like midnight, so we should probably get to sleep." She turns to Brent. "You should go home."
"Why?" He stubbornly crosses his arms.
"Because mom texted me telling you to come home," She takes out her phone and shows him the messages.
He softens a bit. "Okay," He says. "Just--call me if you guys need anything."
"Finally! Goodbye!" She exclaims, guiding him towards the front entrance, then shoving him out the door.
A thought of Tamsyn leaving to go to the party passes through my mind. I start to tear up thinking about her.
"Oh Fate," Ari rushes over and wraps her arms around me.
I cry into her shoulder. "What if--what if we can't get her back?"
"Don't think like that," She tries to calm me. "We're going to find her. Just as soon as we have all of the information."
I nod, and walk back into my room as Ari goes to lay down on the couch.
I climb into my bed, and pull the blanket up to my chin.
Tamsyn? I think. Tami? Where are you? Please help me find you.
