41. Chapter 41
"Alex is in the hospital..." Andy said in disbelief, ending the phone call and looking at me.
"Why?" I asked, my eyes widening.
"She tried to commit suicide..." Andy still looked in shock.
"Oh no..." I said, feeling dread and guilt, and sadness all build up inside me.
I was standing outside Alex's hospital room, pacing restlessly, and waiting for Andy to get here. The doctors were working on Alex. No one was telling me anything.
CC, Jake, and Jinxx were all in the cafeteria, getting coffee.
Finally, Andy came running down the hallway with Bill close on his heels.
"Have you heard anything?" He asked, as soon as he reached me.
"No, they wont let me in and the nurses are keeping everything quiet."
"What happened?" Bill asked. I still didn't know why he was here.
"She tried to kill herself with anti-depressants."
"Sh*t.... I thought I should keep those in the house in case she was ever feeling...you know...." Andy said, rubbing his eyes.
"You gave a suicidal girl pills?!" Bill said in shock and anger.
"And how would you even know she was feeling like that in the first place? Did she slip it to you while you were getting into her pants?!" Andy glared at Bill. It seemed as though he was turning his fear and sadness into anger.
"Woah what?!" I said in shock. "When did this happen?"
"It's nothing." Andy said, still glaring at Bill.
A nurse came out of Alex's room and walked up to the three of us.
"Which one of you is her relative?"
"Me." I said, turning towards her anxiously. "How is she?"
The nurse glanced nervously at Andy and Bill and then looked at me sadly. "We weren't able to revive her."
"Wh-what?" I asked, shock and disbelief and dispair all hitting me at once. Andy stared at the nurse with his mouth wide open and Bill was shaking his head, probably thinking that he had heard wrong.
"She's dead. I am so sorry." The nurse looked at us sympathetically.
I shook my head. Alex couldn't be dead. She had to be ok. We had had some close calls before but she always ended up fine.
She couldn't be dead.
It wouldn't process in my mind. Dead. Alex. Dead. Alex was dead. It didn't seem right. Those words didn't seem to fit right together. They must be wrong. The nurse probably got Alex's room mixed up with someone else's. We would walk into that room and Alex would sit up in her bed wearing her hospital gown and complain about the room service or something.
She couldn't be dead.
No. No. No. No. No. NO! NO! NO! NO! ALEX CAN'T BE DEAD! I LOVE HER! I FINALLY FOUND THE ONE AND SHE'S GONE! She's gone....
