18. Chapter 18
I knew how she felt. At least, I think she did. I saw it in her eyes. She seemed bone-tired. I wanted to help her, comfort her. I just didn't know how.
A moment later, she came out of the bathroom and sat beside me on the couch. She laid her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes. I adjusted our position so that we were both laying sideways on the couch. I laid my arm over her waist and pressed my face into her neck. I felt her smile. I felt her relax and I knew she had fallen asleep. I closed my eyes and relaxed into sleep.
Andy and I had fallen asleep. I felt his arm protectively around my waist. I turned in his arms to face him. He was still asleep. I closed my eyes and snuggled against him. I brought my hands up and pressed them against his chest. It felt so good to lay there with his arms wrapped around me. I drifted into sleep again.
I got out of my bunk and walked out to see if anyone else was awake. Andy and Alex laid together, asleep, on the couch. I looked at them and smiled. This had been hard on Alex, and we all knew it. Ashley wasn't making it any easier for her.
I woke up to find Alex asleep and pressed against me. I smiled. She looked so peaceful in sleep. I silently stood and worked my way around her so that I didn't wake her up.
I glanced into the bunks. All the guys were gone. There was a note on the refrigerator.
Andy and Alex,
I saw you guys were asleep and didn't wanna wake you. We're at the diner outside of the bus if you need us.
I sighed and sat the note down. I grabbed a pack of cigarettes and went outside to light them up.
I woke up again and Andy wasn't beside me. I looked around and didn't see him.
"Andy? " I called.
I opened the front door and saw him standing there with a cigarette in his hand.
"Hey" He said, smiling.
I smiled and went to stand beside him. He offered me a cigarette. I shook my head.
"How long was I asleep for?" I asked.
"Since I was awake? Not long. Since we both fell asleep? A couple hours." He said and looked at me. He smiled.
"What?" I asked.
"What what?" He looked confused.
"Your smiling at me."
"Oh," Again, he smiled but didn't answer me.
"Well what?" He asked but he knew what I was talking about.
"You know what." This was an annoying game he was playing.
"Actually I don't know what."
I wrapped my arms around his waist. "You're infuriating."
He smiled. "You know you love me."
I laughed. I let go and walked back into the bus. I read CC's note and made myself a bowl of cereal.
