I never knew how much I had missed Kristen until now. I had her back and realized how much I want to spend time with her. Right now, we were on our way to the US with Erin, Jake, and Cailey. Kristen decided that she wanted to spend a little more time in London, but we were going to stay with her dad for a little while I was off. To be honest, I'm pretty nervous to meet her dad. He has been nice enough to let me stay at their house in the guest room. Cailey was staying in another one of their spare rooms and Erin was going to go home to see her parents, although she would be with us a lot. Harry and Zayn were going to fly out in a few days after visiting their families, while Louis and Niall were going to stay in the UK with their families for a bit. I think Niall also wants to spend some time with Skylar, which he keeps denying that he likes her, but it's pretty obvious. I'm dragged out of my thoughts by the sound of laughter next to me.
"I don't think he's noticed yet!" Cailey basically yells and I hear her and Kristen laugh. Erin is next to them asleep, completely oblivious to everything going on.
"Notice what?" I ask, quite confused about what was so funny.
"Oh, nothing babe. Just the fact that I've been staring at you for the past five minutes and you haven't noticed yet," Kristen replies, laughing. I will never understand this girl and why everything is so funny but that's what I love about her. She leans over and plants a soft kiss on my lips before leaning her head on my shoulder and curling up as much as possible. I put my arm around her shoulders and watch as she starts to fall asleep. Cailey looks like she just saw the cutest puppy.
"You two win the award for cutest couple," she whispers to me and I smile, looking down at the beautiful sleeping girl in my arms. Cailey takes out her phone and snaps a picture of us I'm pretty sure. A few minutes later, I feel my phone vibrate and slowly grab it so I don't wake Kristen. It's a twitter notification from Cailey with the picture she took and a caption saying: "@Caileywashere: award for cutest couple goes to @Real_Liam_Payne and @kristenblank16 #Kiam #cutestcouple"
I have to agree with her on that one. Well, Kristen looks adorable sleeping and snuggling up to me. I fall asleep soon after with my head resting on hers. This is something Emily and I would have never done so its so nice to actually feel loved now.
Five hours later, I wake up to find everyone else asleep and the plane is landing. I first wake Cailey up and she wakes Erin up. I lightly shake Kristen and whisper for her to wake up. Her eyes flutter open slowly and she smiles when she sees me, wiping the sleep from her hazel eyes.
"How did you sleep, babe?" I ask and she puts her thumb up to say good, then nuzzles her head back into the crook of my neck. "The plane is landing and you can sleep on the car ride, but we have to get up now."
Kristen slowly stretches when I see Erin slap her in the face, making her cry out, mostly in surprise.
"Ow. What the hell was that for?" She asks, rubbing her cheek. I lean over and press my lips to her cheek, trying to make her feel better.
"First of all, it wasn't that hard and second, you have to get up," Erin replies, smirking at her. We both know that Kristen won't hit her back, she's too nice and caring.
"Come on, I'll protect you from the evil Erin," I say jokingly, pulling her towards me and Kristen sticks her tongue out at Erin, holding back a smile. I take her hand and we walk off the plane with Erin and Cailey following. I don't know if if she's still half asleep or if its her clumsiness, but as soon as we get off the plane, she trips. She starts to fall and I catch her before she hits the ground.
"Thanks LiLi," she says, which surprises me. Not that she apologized, but the nickname. If anyone else had say it, I would hate it, but when she says it, it's different.
"Anytime Krissy," I reply, laughing at her nickname. Kris would probably be better usually but Krissy sounded better in that sentence.
"That's what Gavin's mom calls me. She adds y to the end of each name, like Jake is Jakey and she calls Gavin and Griffin, Gavy and Griffie. Oh, by the way, my dad is waiting outside so we should get our stuff as quickly as possible," she says and I nod. She squeezes my hand gently and smiles reassuringly at me. I think she can tell I'm nervous and it may be small, but her gestures to reassure me did help. We finally grab our bags after going through security and head outside to find her dad. When we finally find him, Kristen runs up and hugs him, then gives him a kiss on the cheek.
"I missed you so much Kris. I'm not used to just Jake being here," he says and then looks over at Erin, Cailey, and I. I just realized I've never even thought about calling her Kris. I've heard Erin say it a few times, but never really thought about it. Wow, I think way too deeply about these things.
"Hi Mr. Blank!" Erin shouts, giving him a hug. He laughs and says hi back then turns to Cailey, who I find out, has met him before. He finally settles his gaze on me and walks over to me.
"You must be Liam. I've heard so much about you, all good, don't worry. It's nice to finally meet you," he says, holding out his hand and smiling. I take it and shake his hand. At least he doesn't hate me.
"It's nice to meet you too, sir," I say and he laughs. Which makes me nervous.
"You can call me Trevor," he says and I nod. "Now, how about we load these suitcases in the car and talk more in the car."
"Sounds great," I say, taking a suitcase and placing it in the car. We get all the suitcase to fit and then get in the car. Cailey got the passanger seat with Erin, Kristen, and I squished in the back. I basically played twenty questions with Kristen's dad, until she saved me.
"Dad, I think that's enough questions for now. You don't want to overwhelm him," she says and he nods.
"I just want to make sure my little girl is in good hands," he responds and she rolls her eyes.
"Dad, you have to remember I'm not a little girl anymore, I'm almost 17. I can make decisions for myself," she says. We start talking about random things, such as how the UK was and what we did. After a little bit, I feel Kristen rest her head on my shoulder. I automatically slide my arm around her waist and start rubbing her back as she falls asleep. When we get to the house, she still isn't awake so I gently pick her up and carry her inside. Erin shows me to her room and I lay her down on her bed.
I was going to stay with her for a little, but Trevor calls me over to him. I cautiously walk over and he actually looks relieved.
"Thank you, Liam. I just want to let you know that I approve of you dating my daughter. I can just tell that you'll treat her well and I see how much you care for her. She is actually happy for once and believe me, it doesn't happen often. When you took a break from each other, I could tell how upset she was when we talked on the phone or FaceTime. I trust you not to make any bad decisions, right?" He asks, which really gets to me.
"Of course! I would never do that, especially with Kristen," I say and he nods.
"Ok thank you Liam. I'm going to go to bed. You can help yourself to any food or anything. Goodnight," he says and I say goodnight back before sitting down on the couch. That went a lot better than I planned. I turn when I hear a voice behind me.
"How are you doing Liam?" I turn to see Erin walking into the room with a bag of crisps.
"I'm hanging in. This whole memory loss thing is killing me. I'm still waiting for her to get her memory back. I'm not going to give up," I say and Erin looks at me sympathetically.
"Liam, I hate to break it to you, but it's been months, I don't think it's coming back. I wish it would, but we might just have to face that it's not going to happen no matter how hard we try," she says, but I won't listen to her. I still think Kristen will get memory back.
"It kills me to have to be careful with what I say to her with her memory. She finally seems like she's getting used to it somewhat," I say and Erin shakes her head, confusing me more than ever.
"Maybe she hasn't told you yet, but she's been having a really hard time. Did you know she's afraid you'll give up on her and leave? She also recognizes you vaguely, but not enough to remember anything between you two. She comes crying in the middle of the night to me or Cailey. It frustrates her, but I don't think she's told you because she doesn't want you to think shes having a hard time. She's trying to be strong but is slowly falling apart," she says and I feel horrible. How did I not see that she was in pain? Her own boyfriend can't see it and she is trying to stay strong for my sake.
"I would never leave her and I hope she knows that she doesn't have to stay strong for me. Even the strongest people need help or comfort every once in a while. I'm going to go to bed but thank you for telling me," I say and we both say goodnight.
I walk upstairs and make my way to Kristen's room. I quietly close the door and walk over to her. I lay down next to her and wrap my arms around her. I feel her relax in her sleep and nuzzle closer to my body warmth subconsciously. I stay there for a few minutes like that before I start hearing little whimpers come out of her mouth. I can feel her start to cry before so hear her. She starts to whisper things to herself that I can't make out. I couldn't take it anymore so I lightly shook her and she sat up quickly. I pull her close and tell her everything is ok. She's probably surprised to see me but right now, I don't care about that.
"Liam, are you going to leave me?" She asks, still half asleep. I have to smile at her adorableness, but then remember what she said.
"I would never leave you, Kristen. Trust me, " I say and she sighs and then puts her her head on my chest. I run my fingers through her hair repeatedly until she falls asleep. I decide to spend the night in here. I think her dad would understand. I slowly drift to sleep to the steady breathing and heart beat of Kristen.
