I put on a floral sundress and let my hair stay natural. Harry picked me up around 7:45. He wouldn't tell me where we were going. Just then 'Fall For You' by Secondhand Serenade came on the radio and he looked at me and laughed.
"What?" I ask.
"This song reminds me of you," he said.
"Why?" I ask.
"Because…" he waits to sing along with the song, "a girl like you's impossible find."
And he kept singing. We both just sang, it was funny. It felt like that scene from the Last Song.
Finally he stopped the car at an open field.
"We're here." he said.
"We are?" I asked. He laughed. He grabbed a picnic basket and a blanket from the trunk and set up in the middle of the field. I was still waiting by the car.
"Anna c'mon!" he yelled. I ran over to him.
"What?" I asked.
"Sit with me," he said. He's so cute I lov- woah. That's a big step. Nevermind.
"Tonight is supposedly the best night ever to star watch." he said as it got dark.
We laid there together.
"This is such a perfect moment, with the perfect girl," he said and looked at me. We kissed for what felt like a million years. It was the perfect moment. It was the perfect night. At about 11 we left. I get home at 11:40.
"Thanks for the perfect night Harry, I really enjoyed it," I say.
"No thank you," he said. I kissed him on the cheek and get out of his car.
My mom is waiting for me.
"Hey mom," I say as I walk in the door.
"Hey sweetie, can we talk?" she asks.
"Sure what about?" I ask.
"Well, I got a call today at about 7 about my job. And well, um.." she stuttered.
"What??" I say anxiously.
"They made me a huge offer in Siesta Key, Florida." she said.
"WHAT?! Mom that's all the way across the country! No way. I'm not going. Not now! I've finally found my place and now you're gonna make me move?! No!" I scream.
"Honey calm down. It wouldn't be til the end of your semester."
"Mom that's in a month." I say.
"Well it's not official yet," she says.
"Well either way I'm not going. I have Grace and Alexa and Brian and Harry to think about," I say.
"Sweetie Harry will be going to college at the end of the year and your friends can visit all the time," she says.
"Yeah mom that's at the end of the year! And do you know how much money that would cost?!" I yell.
"Anna, stop. Can you think about me for one second?! This is an amazing offer and it would be really great if you at least thought about it." She states.
I look at her with tears in my eyes and I don't say a thing. I sprint upstairs into my room and cry.
Why does this have to happen to me.
