I pulled into the school parking lot and parked next to three motorcycles. I threw the last of my banana peel onto the floor and grabbed my bag and headed inside.
As usual, people were clogging the hallways, girls were reapplying makeup they did twenty minutes ago or gushing and screaming to their friends. Guys were checking those girls out or throwing footballs that nearly nail me in the head every time.
Lucky for me, my locker was in a quieter hallway and I didn't get hit with anything all that often. Not saying it didn't happen, it was just rare.
Some how I managed to get my bag into my locker fairly easily today. Victory is mine! Hoorah!
"Give me it back, Scott!" Some kid yelled from down the hallway and I turned my attention to him.
A boy with an average length of dark brown hair was chasing another boy with average length brown down the hallway in pursuit of what I'm guessing is his keys.
"Come and get it, Stiles." The other boy taunted.
I recognized the boy in pursuit of his keys. Stiles Stilinski, his locker was a couple down from mine and I'd had to pair up with him for a lab once.
Hmm, make friends and help him, or stay a loner like I have for the past month? Hmm...
Scott backed slowly closer to me and when I had the chance, I grabbed them out of his hand and tossed them to Stiles. "Your welcome."
"Oh, uh, thanks. That wasn't... You didn't have to..." He paused and took a breath. "Thank you."
"Anytime. I'm Scarlett."
"I'm Scott," said the other boy.
"Nice to meet you both."
I turned back to my locker. Damn, that didn't exactly go the way I was planning it to. Whatever. I dropped my phone in my locker and grabbed my English binder out of my bag and searched the bottom cluster of different writing utensils for a sharpened pencil. Aha! I found one!
"Uh, found what?" I turned to see Stiles staring at me in confusion. I'd spoken aloud?
"Oh, nothing... Just a pencil." I closed my locker and shut the lock.
"Would you like to... Eat lunch with us, Scarlett?" Stiles asked and I turned back to him.
"No, it's alright... I've got to be somewhere at lunch..."
"Oh, okay... No problem..." He looked disappointed.
"I'm sorry. Maybe tomorrow?"
I turned away and swore at myself. God, I'm such an idiot. I had the chance and I blew it. I don't even have to be anywhere at lunch!
