It had been two days since the last mission Ryder and Lacey had went on and everything was back to normal, Joey came back even more perverted than ever and Lacey and Ryder continued bickering with each other. But the only thing Ryder could ever think about was what he saw two days ago, the sight of Lacey's unusual silver eyes. 'We're different...' That's all Ryder could hear in his head, and then during class he began thinking 'How did Lacey learn her magic?... I mean, she knows how to use all types of magic and if she doesn't have a family then how did-?'
"Ryder! I need your attention!" Miss. Brimstone had said with a soft but demanding voice.
Everyone else in the class room was snickering as Ryder ran his right hand through his hair trying not to show his fellow classmates that he was embarrassed.
"I'm sorry Miss. Brimstone, I was just, um-"
"He was daydreaming about Lacey." Said his friend Joey as he looked at his friend with a smirk.
Ryder gave him an evil look as he looked at his friend and said.
When Ryder turned his head to look at Lacey, he noticed that she was looking out the window the whole time. She didn't really care what he did or what anybody else did, she was independent and always has been really.
"Well, as I was saying Ryder we have a new transfer student.-"
"Why are we getting all the transfers?"
A annoying student had asked, he was a complete geek, he had to ask a ton of questions which pretty much annoyed everybody. But for once in a lifetime 'the kid has a point...' Ryder had thought to himself as he looked at Lacey and continued his own conversation. 'Will this transfer be like Lacey and actually be an Empreston?... If so, that'll help me and her out a lot.'
"You can come in now." Miss. Brimstone said as a boy with a gray long sleeved t-shirt, gray converse, and dark washed jeans walked in. His hair was black and his eyes were a really light blue, almost like a crystal clear blue. Some of the girls, of course, admired him because of his looks. He looked like a younger version of Rob Lowe, the famous actor that almost everyone so dearly loved.
"Would you like to introduce yourself?" The bespectacled teacher had asked as she looked at the boy.
"I guess so..."
His voice was deep, but it wasn't too deep it was the perfect kind of deep that sounded strong but could also be caring. So then the dark-haired boy continued.
"My name is Jax Sky and uh yeah, I guess that's all you need to know really."
"Alright then Jax you may sit in front of Lacey back there by the window."
Liam began walking towards the back and knew where he was suppose to go since Lacey was the only girl in the back. Jax quickly took his seat in front of Lacey, and at the same time Ryder and Lacey looked up at each other and mouthed the word
Later on after school was over and everyone was on their way out of the classroom Ryder and Lacey walked up to Jax, and then Lacey said.
"You're one of them aren't you?"
Jax looked up at her with cool blue eyes and said.
"What? An Empreston? Hell yeah I am."
All of a sudden something began moving in his backpack. Ryder furrowed his eyebrows after noticing the movement and then asked.
"What's in the backpack?"
"Oh, let me show you since y'all are Emprestons."
Jax quickly opened his backpack's small pocket letting out a 4 inch tall person, it was a girl and she had blue angel-like wings. It was as if she was a fairy because of how tiny she was. Her hair was black, and shoulder length, and her eyes were purple. She yawned just a bit as she began flying and then she hovered above Jax's shoulder before she actually sat on it, fixing her white skirt and adjusting her plain blue shirt as she began speaking in a somewhat sweet voice.
"Ugh, why does school have to be so boring?..."
The girl looked up, noticing Ryder and Lacey and then she looked back at Jax and asked him.
"Who are they?"
"This is... Um...-"
"My name is Lacey, and this is my friend Ryder."
"Yeah that's who they are."
"Are they Emprestons like you brother?"
Jax nodded his head while Lacey furrowed her eyebrows and said.
"Wait a minute, brother? This is your sister?..."
"Yeah, it's uh... Kind of a long story..."
The small girl nodded her head in agreement as she flew up to Lacey and held out her tiny little hand and said.
"Hi, my name is Aria Sky."
Lacey smiled when she noticed that the girl had child-like features, she had seemed about her age but when she noticed it she was wondering why but all she did was stick out her index finger and shake her tiny hand.
Ryder looked at Jax and said.
"We kind of need your help."
"With what?" Jax had asked.
Aria sat down on Lacey's shoulder as she explained.
"Well as you can tell there aren't a lot of Empreston's around here, and we need all the help we can get while doing team missions."
"Yeah I can help, it's no problem. My sister comes with me on all of my missions so I hope that isn't a problem."
Ryder and Lacey looked at each other and shook their heads.
"No, it shouldn't be a problem." Ryder had said.
"Good, and I can tell that your an amateur Ryder."
"Because you didn't even notice me getting your wallet."
Jax held up Ryder's wallet with a smirk and all Ryder did was roll his eyes and take it from his hand.
"Alright, when do we start?" Aria had asked
"Tonight, y'all can come over my house. Does that sound good?" Ryder had asked with raised eyebrows.
Aria shrugged her shoulders and said.
A few minutes later the now four person group of people arrived at Ryder's house. Mr. Frost sat in the living room on his sofa as he began channel surfing while Ryder walked into the room and said.
Without turning his head, Mr. Frost continued to look at the plasma tv and just waved.
"Dad I'd like you to meet some new friends of mine."
This, for some reason, caught Mr. Frost's attention. He had turned around and looked to see Jax and the puny Aria. Mr. Frost got up from his seat and walked towards the group and then Jax held out his hand and introduced himself.
"Hi, sir, my name is Jax Sky."
Mr. Frost completely ignored his hand and all his attention was drawn to Aria as she smiled nervously and began speaking.
"Hello Mr. Frost... My name is Aria, I'm Jax's sister."
For a moment, the whole room was silent and then Mr. Frost backed away from the group a bit and said.
"Never in my life have I seen something like Aria."
Aria raised her tiny hand as she flew over towards Mr. Frost and asked him.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"
Mr. Frost looked at Aria and shrugged his shoulders and said.
"I don't know, Ariel."
Aria frowned just a bit as she said.
"Right." Mr. Frost said and then all he did was sigh as he continued to speak.
"So I'm guessing y'all are here for a group mission?"
Lacey nodded her head and said.
Mr. Frost held up a finger as he waved his hand, telling the group to follow him as he began walking towards the basement with them following him.
A minute later the group surrounded Mr. Frost at a square wooden table. Mr. Frost picked up a land line phone and dialed a number, Ryder looked at his father and asked.
"Who are you call-?"
Lacey just pointed at Ryder and silently laughed as Mr. Frost began speaking.
"Hey Charlie how's it goin? Good? That's great, hey quick question, do you by any chance have a group mission right now?..."
There was a long silence followed by several 'uh-huhs' and then eventually the minute long conversation ended with a
"Thanks Charlie, actually call me any time you have a group mission it would mean a lot to me. See ya buddy."
Mr. Frost turned around and walked passed the group and them up the stairs, the four of them stayed there and eventually Lacey, Jax, and Aria looked at Ryder waiting to see if he knew what had just happened and all he did was shrug. Eventually the team walked up stairs and walked up to Mr. Frost who was sitting comfortably on the couch.
"So um... Quick question dad,... What's our mission?"
Mr. Frost looked up at his son and said.
"Oh yeah, you need to go to Fish Creek Park and apparently there are several 'teenagers' there who, of course, are actually Ranistons. They should be there right about now, but you better hurry."
"All right then, we should get going, thanks dad."
Mr. Frost smiled just a bit which was something that he rarely did as the group made their way out the door with Ryder saying.
"Bye dad! I love you!"
The group arrived at Fish Creek Park in less than 10 minutes, and nonetheless the group of teenagers were there. They looked somewhat like a group of gangster wannabes and Jax was the first one to catch one of the Latino boys' eyes. The boy smirked as he began making his way towards the group and he began speaking as the other five followed right behind him.
"I see we have some trespassers, eh?"
Jax looked at his sister and said.
"Stay in my pocket."
Aria quickly nodded her head as she flew towards his pocket, Lacey and Ryder stood on either side of Jax and eventually the group walked up to them and then Jax said.
"This is a public place you dumbass, there is no such thing as 'trespassers'."
"Did you hear that fellas? There's no such thing as trespassers."
The leader laughed hysterically, and then he quickly stopped and said.
"This is our territory, so you all are considered trespassers."
Jax and the leader looked each other square in the eye as one of the group members looked at Lacey and smirked.
"You're cute, a little short for my taste but you'll do."
The group member grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close to him, Ryder saw this and he quickly walked up to the two but by the time he had done that, Lacey's pocket knife was already pressed against the boys neck.
"You don't wanna mess with me."
"You don't have the guts to do it, you're a girl after all."
Lacey snickered as she continued to look at the guy, a silver leaf then fell on her pocket knife as she raised her eyebrows as the knife became a sword as she said.
"Do you think I still don't have the guts now?"
The boy let go of her and said.
"You wouldn't kill a person, now would you?"
"Of course not, but that's the thing,"
Lacey quickly sliced her sword through the boy as he quickly dissolved into the air, and then she continued her sentence.
"You're not a person."
Once Lacey got rid of one Raniston Jax looked at the leader and quickly pushed him away, he got out his Beretta and pointed it at him and he quickly fired a lightning bullet. Within seconds the leader was electrocuted to death as he dissolved into the ground. Ryder looked at Lacey who looked back at him, they both nodded their heads as Ryder locked his hands together. Lacey ran towards Ryder and jumped off of his hands doing a backflip in the air and as she landed with her sword in the ground, the dirt began cracking beneath the rest of the wannabe gangster's feet and they fell into their inevitable death.
The group took a sigh of relief as Percy perched himself on Lacey's shoulder and Aria came out of Jax's pocket.
"We really need to stop destroying everything on our missions..." Lacey had said.
"Ha, that's inevitable Lace."
