Hazels POV

Today is Saturday the 6th of April, my birthday. I'm finally 18, so in Australia I'm officially an adult. but here in America, I still have 3 more years until I can legally drink and go out clubbing, etc etc.

I was actually sort of happy today, I was having a party here at the o2l house. I invited all my youtube friends, other friends I've made outside of youtube and I let Connor, Ricky, Kian and JC invite some people too. I was extra excited because Sam and Trevor were coming, I finally get to meet them for the first time.

It's 7p.m and people are staring to arrive. I'm currently upstairs, still trying to quickly get ready. I was really busy today with meetings and setting up, that now that everything's started, everyone's ready but me. I hear familiar voices so I decide after a quick wardrobe change, I went downstairs. There were only a couple of people here so far including, Tyler Oakley, Troye Sivan, Anthony Quintal, Jack (thatsojack), Maz Listhrop, Sam Pepper, Jenn McAllister, Andrea Russet and of course Kian.
"Hey guys!" I smiled a legitimate smile, I was so happy that I got to have my 18th birthday here in LA with all my best friends.
"HAZELLL!" Most of the screamed in unison, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" And they all ran in for one big group hug.
"Aww, I've missed you guys." I laughed.
"I know, ever since you came to LA, you've completely snobbed us. We live like in the same state, finally, and I don't hear from you? Girl please!" Tyler sassed, obviously as a joke.
"I know right! Instead she's been with Mr Sam Pepper hey!" Jenn winked and nudged my shoulder.
"So are you two a thing now? Ooooh!" Anthony questioned.
"No, just friends." Sam said and brought me in for an individual hug.
"Hey Kian, where's Connor, Ricky and JC?" I asked.
"They went to pick up some people." He smiled and also got an individual hug, "Happy birthday. If only you were of legal age to drink." He smiled.
"Wait a second.. you can't drink yet either." I was confused for a moment.
"I know." He pretended to be down.
"So who else is coming?" Maz asked.
"Umm.. that I know of, Sam, Trevor, Rebecca Black, Andrew Lowe, Joey Graceffa, Shane Dawson and hopefully Coleen (miranda sings)."
"That sounds like a perfect party." Andrea commented.
"Yeah, I just wanted something not too small, not too big."
"And we're going for lunch tomorrow are we?" Maz asked.
"Uhh.. no, not really.." I felt awkward, I knew Sam had mentioned we had plans tomorrow and I didn't really want to tell anyone.
"Oh, then what's happening? Sam said we all had plans with you?" Maz looked confused.
"Oh my gosh! Sam and Hazel have a date tomorrow!" Andrea figured it out.
"Guys you hav-" Anthony began to talk but he was cut off by the door bell.
"I'll get it." And I walked out of the awkwardness.

I opened the door to a warm and soothing voice singing, "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Ha-zelll, happy birthday to you!
"SAM, TREVOR!" I literally screamed, this was my first time meeting them after all. We had one long group hug and I felt like crying. It just felt so good to meet them.
"Happy birthday beautiful, from both of us." Sam smiled and handed me a present.
"Thank you guys, come in!" And just before I shut the door, a foot blocked it.
"Aren't you going to let me in?" I opened the door and standing there was Joey and Connor.
"Joey, baby!" I jumped on him for a hug. I haven't seen Joey in over a year.
"Happy birthday girl." Connor walked in and messed with my hair.
"Oh yeah, before I forget." Joey handed me a small box, "Happy birthday!" He hugged me again.
"Thank you so much! Come, let's go see everyone else." I took his hand and lead him to the living room.

After small talk and catching up with everyone, the doorbell rang again. I went to open the door and no one was there, so I walked back to the living room, and the doorbell rang again? I went to check, no one was there, I walked outside and I couldn't see anyone hiding. Ugh, annoying. I went to walk back into the house and into the living room. Everyone disappeared?
"Guys?" I yelled out. No answer. I checked the kitchen and the dining room before going outside. It was pitch black so I tried to find the light switch, and just before I turned on the light, Ricky had appeared with a cake with 18 brightly lit candles. "Awww!" I wasn't expecting this.
"Happy birthday to you.." Everyone started singing, and I couldn't stop myself from smiling and laughing.
"3 cheers for the birthday girl! Hooray, hooray, hooray!"
I blew out the candles and Connor handed me a knife. I cut way down to the bottom and pulled out the knife, it was a chocolate cake.
"Ohhh, she touched the bottom! You have to kiss the closest male!" I looked over and saw Anthony laughing with Andrew and Rebecca. Ricky must've come with them.
"Whatever, no I don't." I took it as a joke and rolled my eyes.
"They're not kidding.." Connor laughed and raised his eyebrows. I looked around and he was the closest guy to me.
"But that's you?"
"Oh, no it's not." Connor stepped back and pushed Sam into me.
"I guess it's my job to kiss the birthday girl." His hands held my arms and he winked. Sam leaned in for a kiss, but just as his lips had lightly grazed across mine, I moved my head away.
"Not today." I whispered onto his lips.
"Can someone spell party pooper?" Rebecca's excitement level dropped.
"Whatever.. who wants cake?" I yelled, and everyone decided to make all the noise in the world, cheering for cake.

The night was getting darker, and the hours were getting later. More guest had arrived, including the flawless Natalie and Jenna. A load of people I had never met before had shown up, but someone had to have invited them, or they weren't allowed in. I got so lost in the crowd of sweaty dancers and hormonal teens and young adults, I had just realized I hadn't seen JC all night. I decided to look for him, I didn't want him to be mad at me for the other day, even though I was still mad at him. Hypercritical, I know.
"Hey Connor!" I found him dancing with Natalie.
"Yeah?" He tried talking over the loud music.
"Have you seen JC?" I yelled.
"JC? Didn't he tell you?"
"Tell me what?" I was confused for like the 10th time tonight.
"JC said he wasn't going to be here for your birthday." I completely lost my smile whilst those words came out of Connors mouth. "He said he had a date, I tried to beg him to stay for the party, but he took off." Connor continued.
"I'm sorry." Natalie added.
"No, it's fine." I put on a fake smile and walked away.

Did JC really take to heart what I said? I mean, yeah I said I could un-invite people, but I never specified who. I would never un-invite him to my party either. Maybe it was bad planning and he did have a date. But when I planned this party, he helped me with everything and was so excited for tonight. Maybe he really just didn't want to come.
I was lost in thought and when I finally snapped out of it, I saw Sam walking towards me. He was the only comfort I had for tonight, so I walked into his arms and squeezed him in a tight hug, which he gladly accepted.

"Thanks for coming on such short notice." I smiled at her, "I know you had other plans but I really needed someone to talk to."
"I'll always be here for you JC." She smiled back. I adored her smile, "So, what's on your mind."
"What? I thought you may have had a thing for Hazel.. according to certain resources." She questioned.
"If I did, wouldn't I be at her party rather than be here with you right now?" I took a look into her eyes and she began to smile, not only with her mouth, but with her eyes too. She was glowing. "You're always on my mind, and I know we're been friends for a long long time now and you may not want to jeopardize our friendship, but I think we could be more than just friends one day."

She remained silent, but her silence said it all. She was happy, just as happy as I was at this moment in time. It was perfect, she's perfect.
