QUICK NOTE FROM GIRLIE: I hope you are enjoying this "second climax," as Prez calls it. I don't know what caused me to create it, but hey! Don't complain! Just enjoy it! Savor it like it's the last piece of bacon you will ever eat! I DON'T WANT THIS BOOK TO END!
Girlie watched silently as Stan and October searched for the portal to the Time Council. Just as her pain had died down enough to be shut out, another onslaught came. More memories, playing like a television screen in her head.
Prez hit Gideon on the head, and he fell, as did Girlie.
Then, Gideon got up. He raised Prez in the air. He released her. She dropped, dead as a doornail.
The Time Council was altering her memory. Girlie knew Prez didn't die. Prez was right there, holding her, comforting her. She concentrated, trying to remember what really happened.
This isn't right! Prez killed Gideon to save me.
'No, Gideon is alive and well. He's watching you now.' Girlie knew it was the Time Council talking, but it sounded so much like her own voice, that she began to believe.
He is dead. We hid his body.
'No, you hid Prez.'
Girlie's tears began again. She had no clue what to believe.
Another memory flashed, being destroyed by the Council. Girlie was comforting Prez in the kitchen, like she had the day Mum died. But Mum was there, covered in blood. Girlie held a knife.
'You killed your mum, Girlie.'
Liars. She died in a hospital. She was ill.
'You stabbed her.'
No. I - I didn't. She was sick... At least, I think she was sick.
'You see. If she died in a hospital, you would have remembered. You killed her.'
'You killed Luna. She is dead because of you.'
I didn't! She died from... Oh. I can't remember...
'You know what you did.'
Girlie's tears came faster and harder, causing Prez to hold her tighter. Girlie screamed, startled. She remembered. Prez died the day before. "Stay away," she said, squirming out of her grip. "You're not real!"
She stood up, looking at the confused crowd. She stared at Stan and saw an image of him kidnapping the twins zoom in front of her.
'Dipper and Mabel don't want to be here! They were taken from their parents! Stan is evil!'
Girlie watched as October, in yet another memory, laughed as she begged for help. For the pain to stop.
'Remember how October refused to help you in your time of need?'
Girlie couldn't stand it anymore. She couldn't tell fact from fiction. The two concepts weaved together, forming a basket of bewilderment. "Stay away from me! All of you! Stay away!"
Girlie took off, running as fast as she could. She didn't know where she was going, but
she did know that she had to get away.
She heard the group call after her, and heard the stomping of their feet as they ran in the woods, searching. Girlie U-turned, heading back to the clearing. She hid behind a tree as Prez, Stan, and October sped by, trying to find her.
Girlie ran back to the clearing and sat on the log she had claimed earlier in the woods that day. She lay down, as her mind throbbed.
Time Council, I give up.
'You've finally come to your senses and realized you are no match for us then?'
No. I just realized that I can't fight back. Not unless the portal-.
'Even if you found the portal-'
I'm laying on it.
'Fine, you've figured that out. But we won't let you in.'
Of course not. You guys are too cowardly to let me in and fight for myself.
Just a bunch of chickens.
The Council groaned. 'We'll let you in. Close your eyes.'
Girlie closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she was a spirit. She soared high above her physical body, which still lay on the log, unmoving. Almost corpse-like.
Dipper and Mabel crashed into the clearing, and upon seeing the physical body of Girlie, they screamed for Prez. Girlie guessed she was invisible in her current form.
Suddenly, the scene dissolved and she stood In front of the Time Council.
