"That was evil. What if he was really cared about Martha?"
"That's the point."
Bill had been listening to the sisters bicker for the past fifteen minutes as he lead them out of the forest and back to the Mystery Shack. He could tell that Prez was extremely annoyed by a combination of her sister's bad grammar and her willingness to lead Turbo astray.
Suddenly, his eyes turned blue and he had to force himself to keep walking. Quickly, he thought of a way to get Girlie to help him . . .
'Clever. But not quite enough. We have more opportunities for him to make an appearance before April 5th, Cipher, and you can't protect her 24/7.'
Sure I can.
'Her sister can always assume that you're keeping something good from happening. Which you are.'
I'm keeping her murder from happening. Hardly a good thing.
'And the birth of Lily Beauforte.'
Lily dies at the age of three in a train crash and is the reason Beauforte goes insane.
'Do you honestly think messing with the way time is supposed to go is going to lead to anything good?'
David does it all the time.
'We're not the bosses of David Tennant.'
Do you honestly think that pinning an innocent girl to a future of getting abused in every way possible is going to lead to anything good? She's got a good heart, and I'm going to defend it. She trusts everyone, and I'm not going to let that get abused.
'You have a good point, but we could always turn her sister against you... and her.'
I wouldn't count on it.
'What makes you think that you can overpower us?'
Every word of this conversation is being broadcast to Girlie's mind.
'You cocky little shit!'
Deal with it.
'We're the Time Council, we can destroy you and your life -'
Bill didn't hear the rest of it. He'd put up his mental walls.
He looked back to see Prez walking with her arms crossed and glaring at the ground. He reached back and grabbed her hand, then looked to Girlie with an eyebrow arched. He let a small telepathic message escape to her.
Will you let me protect her?
