2. Chapter two
A year earlier in that same train
-Katherine, I would do anything for you, but I can’t do this.
-What? The wedding is tomorrow; couldn’t you have told me before?
-But this won’t change anything between us!
-You’re mad if that’s what you really think.
-No. I’m done, Tom. I don’t want anything to do with you. The wedding’s over.
That night chaos invaded the train. At 5 am, when the journey was coming to an end, something else ended instead; a life. Katherine and Tom, a couple just about to marry were sleeping in separate rooms, something Katherine had asked for. Apparently, they had had a serious fight. That night Katherine was brutally killed with a sharp object (a knife) which couldn’t later be found. It had been Tom.
That’s what was told to the police and the judge. That’s what everybody thought had happened. But sometimes, the most obvious answer isn’t the right one.
