Luke and I just got home, and we went straight inside.
I said, "Hey mom, Luke and I are going to go out on a trail, and ride horses."
Luke said, "Hi ma'am its nice to meet you again."
Mom, said, "Call me Lisa, I am going to go to school, so you two be careful. Isabelle your dad will be home in about ten minutes so I would like for you guys to wait till your dad got home."
"Ok that is fine. We will just go outside and play for a little bit, until he gets home. Why are you going to school?"
"I have to go to a parent meeting. Our phone still doesn't work yet."
I nodded my head and told her bye and then Luke and I went out the door, and too the barn.
When we got to the barn Luke looked at me and said, "So do you like John?"
I said, "Why are you wondering? I might like him and I might not."
Luke looked at Ginger and said, "But you can't like him. I mean you can but I just don't want you to get hurt. He just gets with girls to have a girlfriend and then will leave you and goe out with another girl that comes along."
I started laughing and said, "Don't worry Luke, I don't like him. Trust me I will not go out with him. Oh and are you jealous much?"
Luke chuckled and said, "Ok good, and maybe a little you know how I like you and I know how you like me."
My dad pulled in and I went outside of the barn and hollered to him, "Hey dad, Luke and I are going for a horse ride on a trail we shouldn't be gone long. Mom wanted me to tell you!"
Dad yelled back, "Well ok sweetie! Just be careful."
So me and Luke went over to our horses and saddled up Cowboy, and Ginger. We both rode out to the trail.
I looked at him, and he did look cute and I said, "I am glad we are friends Luke."
"Me too. I know that you want to wait and become friends better, but will you go out with me?"
I just stared at him and said, "Listen we have only been friends for like three days. I want to get to know you better. But in the long run I will consider it."
"I think you are more country then city. You have a strong backbone, and are strong headed. Are you sure you ain't from the city Izzy?"
I laughed and said, "Well I think my dad grew up on a farm, moved to New York City when he found my mom. My mom wanted to always live in New York City, so he followed her wherever she went."
"Well if you ever go out with me. Then I will do the same."
I laughed and shook my head. I said, "You are bound and determined to go out with me. Wait for two weeks, and see where that leads us."
Luke smiled, and said, " Ok we will see. I am pretty sure though, my feelings won't change."
I smiled, and said, "We better get back to the house."
So we rode back to the house. When Luke and I went into the house, mom and dad was crying. I looked at the twins, and they were also crying.
I looked at Luke and said, "What is wrong?"
Mom looked at me with her sad eyes and said, "Well do you remember your grandmother from New York City?
"Yes of course! Went to her house almost every weekend."
Mom looked at dad and then looked at me and said, "Well she passed away this morning, and we just got the call. We will be going back tomorrow to the visitation, and too the funeral."
I looked at Luke, and ran outside and went out into the barn. I talked to Ginger, and told her all what was going to happen. I heard something in the barn and didn't know what it was.
I heard Luke say, "I am so sorry Izzy!"
I ran to him, and just hugged him. He rubbed my back, and told me everything was going to be alright.
I stopped, looked at him, and said, "Hey I think you should come with us, if your parents would let you. I mean it Is Thursday and we don't have school Friday or Monday, so we won't miss any school. I would just have to ask my parents."
Luke smiled and said, "I would love to be there for you, and be a good friend."I looked at him, and ran to the house.
I said, "Hey mom, can Luke come with us if it is ok with his parents?"
"Why sure sweetie I mean he seems like a really sweet boy, and I am happy that he will be there for you." I hugged her, and told her thanks.
I ran outside, and went straight to Luke's I didn't even knock on the door, and said, "You can come if you want!"
Luke looked at me, and said, "Mom and dad said that they will let me come!"
I hugged him, and told him I would see him tomorrow, and ran out of the door, went home, and packed.
