5. A Freak's Yarn

When they reached the town limits, Roxi collapsed against the sign, closed her eyes, waited a few minutes and heard a muffled thump, a lot of panting and a variety of curses, she then opened her eyes and, completely dead panned stated "I take it you've arrived then Loki? About time, I'm already twenty!" She jumped up, cracked her back and held out a hand for Loki to pull himself up on. Regaining their breaths, Loki turned to Roxi with a quizzical eye and stated; "Roxi, seriously, what is going on?" Roxi sighed, turned thoughtful then with a slight hesitation answered; "Loki, I... What I told you earlier was true, I ran away from Home when I was six, my parents are very important government officials, however while I got all I ever wished for, I gained no love or happiness from being around my parents, they were always too busy to spend time with me, and if they weren't then they were sleeping. I was practically raised by my Butler and my Nanny. Then they both died of Cancer, their last wishes were to see me happy, but for my happiness to be caused by my parents, their last wish was never fulfilled, they spent even more time ignoring me, so eventually, I ran away, I changed my name and my self, dropped into the system, but was quickly removed by a couple here, who are carbon copies of my parents, they ignore me, but I have learned to live with it. Now, as a sixteen year old daredevil, I have practically no social life, I am living in Purgatory at high school, and I have no friends here, why I don't run off? Because my parents have a nation-wide manhunt searching for me. It's so stupid, they never cared about me before, but when I try to get away from them, they suddenly care? The cops would never think to look here, so I stay, in The Town of Nowhere, Somewhere, Outthere. That is my story, it's sad, but true, and I don't need your sympathy. Or your pity." Finished with her mini speech, Roxi sat down and leaned against the sign, leaving a slightly flabbergasted Loki to pick up the pieces of the story.

One hour later and Loki shook Roxi out of her thoughts, answering her questioning look, he calmly stated, "Roxi, I've heard your story, now I think you should hear mine..."
