Congrats S.J.Champion for being the first character. Here it goes
Sophie was sitting on her bed one day, reading a few Harry Potter fan fictions, as she always did on weekends, when she heard a great thud, an owl had crashed into her bedroom window. She leapt up, was she daydreaming? There are not normally owls flying around in broad daylight. She quickly unlocked the window to check if the bird was ok. It was. I flew into her room, dropped the letter on her pillow and flew out, without a sight. Sophie picked it up. It was addressed to her. What was happening? Had she drifted off while reading? It felt so real. She turned it around, the Hogwarts seal was stamped on the parchment envelope. She squealed, she wasn't normally a squealer but she couldn't help it.
At that moment her little sister Chloe came running into the room. "Sophie what was that?" She asked, "and what is that?" She said pointing at the envelope. Sophie ignored her, she opened the envelope, the same rough parchment paper was concealed inside.

PARENTS ARE REMINDED THAT FIRST YEARS ARE NOT ALLOWED THEIR OWN BROOMSTICKS
Sophie was so excited. She had shown her parents the letter minutes later and was now on her way to London to get her school supplies before heading straight to Platform 9 3/4. Chloe was complaining in the back seat. "Chloe, your only nine" said Sophie "You never know, you might be a witch too" that made her quiet, she was probably thinking about herself being a witch.
Sophie's parents dropped her off outside the leaky cauldron and left. They were to scared going into the wizarding world being muggles, they thought they were at the wrong location at the start because they couldn't see how this could be a pub, they saw it as a run down store. Sophie hesitantly stepped in.
The leaky cauldron was very dark and shabby. A few old women were sitting in a corner, drinking tiny glasses of sherry. One of them was smoking a long pipe. A little man in a top hat was talking to the old barman, who was quite bald and looked like a gummy walnut. She sighted the back door and stepped through into the courtyard. How would she get in? She didn't have a wand yet. Just as she was about to leave, the walls broke apart, revealing diagon alley.
She bought her school books in Diagon alley. There were many many books there, large ones, small ones, ones with one thousand words on a page and a few with none at all. She left minutes later with five bags filled to the brim, she had a lot to read and she had to admit, not all of them were on the book list.
She bought some brass scales and a telescope before getting a wand.
Mr. Ollivander had to do try so many wands on her that he resorted to some of his most uncommon wand cores. Vela hair. Sophie loved it, it made her feel special. She had even been told by Mr. Ollivander himself that she may even be part vela. Her blue/grey eyes seemed to be exactly like what a vela would have, she was also tall and thin, quite pretty. Her hair was brown though, not blonde but it was silky and wonderful.
Walking back down Diagon alley at the end of the day, Sophie saw a shop that caught her eyes. Eyelopes owl emporium was tucked in the corner of the street. Outside there were a few owls and tons of bird cages, stacked upon one another creating a cluttered look. Inside was completely different, the only thing on the floor of the room was the counter. The walls were covered with owls in built in cages. Wonderful. There was a baby white snowy owl in one of the bottom cages. It was beautiful.
Sophie left the store half an hour later with the baby snowy owl, a cage, some treats and a owl care handbook. That was all her savings gone, but what else would you spend it on?
She left the leaky cauldron and caught a cab to kings cross station. The driver didn't seem to happy about transferring a owl but didn't say a word. When she got there. Sophie got out and got to Platform 9 3/4 pretty easily, nothing a fangirl like herself wouldn't know.
Sophie found an unoccupied compartment on the Hogwarts express and got in, exhausted from the day's shopping. She was just about to drop off into a nap when a girl with brown, wavy hair that reached down to her chest and hazel eyes walked in. "Hello, My name is Tess, can I sit here?" She asked "Sure" Sophie replied.
Tess and Sophie bonded quickly, they were both very smart and creative, but also shy. The ordered their own food from the food cart and sat privately to themselves but when they did find something to talk about they were instantly engaged. Sophie enjoyed having a new friend.
The train slowed down then pulled to a haunt. They were here. Outside, Hagrid was calling out for the first years as usual but there was also someone calling for late students. Argus Filch. Sophie walked up to him. So did Tess, she didn't know she was a late student.
They were brought into a small chamber just off the great hall to wait. Eventual they were called out. There weren't many late students, just a few. And old looking witch unrolled a scroll and began to call names. The sorting hat sat still on the chair until being put on someone's head.
The names went on, it finally came to
Sophie walked up the steps to the stool inform if the of the teachers table, she caught a quick glimpse of the whole great hall staring at her before the hat sold over her eyes.
"Hmm... Fierce... You could go wee in slytherin... But optimistic, that's a hufflepuff quality... You could be Griffindor... Where to put you, you have brains and creativity... Better be RAVENCLAW" she heard the hat call out the last word and went and sat at the table that was cheering the loudest. They looked like nice people, she might like it here...
