Liam opened the door and I ran down the stairs to Caleb. I wrapped my arms around him as he did the same. "They already takes to me Kai. I know what's going to happen to me." His voice was surprisingly strong. I slightly pulled away and looked up at him.
"I'm so sorry Caleb...I tried my best to change the outcome but I just couldn't." A tear slipped from my eye.
"Kai...please don't cry. Besides I'm no one important. Just a normal nerd who doesn't have the best luck. Everything will be okay." He wiped away one of my tears then squeezed me tight again. He leaned down and whispered something in my ear. "Never take what you have for granted. It can slip away from you in the blink of an eye. Goodbye Kai. You were the best friend a person could have." Harry then came and I was pulled away from Caleb. Leaving him all alone in the dark basement.
*two months later*
Kai's still down about Caleb. She wasn't super close to him but I could tell she cared about him. I mean I know she didn't 'love' him, but they were friends. I can't help but feel guilty for everything. I just wish there was something I could do. I was in deep thought when I heard a knock on my door. "Come in." I said, thinking it would be Kai. But it was Liam. "Oh, hey Li." I faked a smile.
"Haz, you don't have to fake a smile I know you're upset." He sat down next to me on my bed.
"Hhh, I just wish there was something I could do. This is all my fault, everything's my fault." I gritted my teeth to stop myself from crying.
"Harry, you can't blame everything on yourself. It's not healthy. And no, nothing is your fault. You had to do all that's happened so some people could live."
"I'm just worried about Kai. Do you know of anything I could do? I can't stand seeing her like this!"
"I have an idea but you're not going to like it. Hhhh Harry she needs you right now and that's fine but in times like these she needs someone she can really rely on, someone she can talk to about anything." He looked into my eyes.
"And who would that be? Niall? Zayn?!? Wait, Louis!" I tried coming up with answers but none of them were right.
"No Haz, she needs her parents. I think it's time you let her go..." My heart skipped a beat and my breathing slowed.
"What?! No there's no way I'm gonna do that! She can't leave, I won't let her!" My voice rose and as I stood up.
"HARRY, she needs her family! You can't keep her hear forever!"
"I can and I will! She'll be alright she has me!!" I yelled.
"Do you love her?!" Liam asked.
"What?!?" I was confused.
"Do. You. Love. Her?" He asked slower this time.
"Of course! She's my world."
"Then let her go. If she truly loves you then she'll come back. Show her how much you love her by letting her go."
"But, Liam, I can't. What if she doesn't come back?"
"That's the risk you have to take. She'll never realize how much you love her until you're risking your own happiness for her." He squeezed my shoulder. "I'll leave you alone to think on it." Then he was gone.
Let her go? How could I live without her? What if she never came back....but somehow within all these thoughts, I knew Liam was right. If she really loved me then she would come back. Maybe she would, I mean whenever she kissed me there were sparks. And the way she would hold my hand and cuddle up to me, there had to be something there....so this is it. I'm letting her go.
