I woke to someone knocking on my bedroom door. I moaned a bit and called out in a groggy voice. "Who is it?"
"It's Mrs Hudson dear," I heard the sweet old lady call. "I just came up to tell you that I brought Sherlock some tea and if you want any its down in his room," she said. I stood up and stumbled to the door.
"Thank you Mrs Hudson, tell Mr Holmes I'll be down soon," I said as I smiled a bit.
Mrs Hudson nodded and hurried down the stairs. I walked into the bathroom and brushed my hair and put a hat on, I would do my hair later. Then I walked back into my room and picked out something to wear. Then I walked down the stairs. Sherlock was sitting in the family room. He held a cup in one hand and drummed his fingers on the arm of the chair. I knocked on the door before walking in and sitting in the chair across from him.
"Good morning Sherlock," I said as I poured myself some tea.
"Good morning Emily," Sherlock said in his deep voice. "How did you sleep?" he asked as he stared past me.
"Very well thank you," I said. "You were out late last night," I commented remembering waking up early in the morning to his bedroom door shutting.
"Aw yes, I solved a case," he said. "Quite easy to solve," he said still staring past me.
"Well I have heard you are the best detective," I said. "Why don't you tell me about yourself, you seem to know everything about me. But I know nothing of you," I said. Sherlock broke his stare and looked at me then took a sip of his tea.
"Oh you'll figure me out soon enough," he said.
*Later that day*
I sat on the couch watching tv when Mrs Hudson walked into my room.
"Sorry dear, there's a man here with some boxes for you," she said. "I wasn't sure if you were expecting any boxes so I told him to wait," she added.
"Oh those are the rest of my things. I couldn't bring them on the plane," I said. Mrs Hudson nodded and I turned the tv off and went downstairs.
I signed the paper for the boxes and the man brought the two boxes up to my room. I thanked him and got to work unpacking. Most of the stuff in the boxes were pictures and decorations. I hung up pictures on the wall around the fireplace and put the ceramics I made up on the mantel. When I was satisfied I sat down on the couch. I was about to turn the tv back on when I heard Sherlock downstairs. He was talking to himself. I stood up and walked down the stairs and peered into Sherlock's family room where he paced back and forth mumbling to himself. I walked in and when he saw me he stopped.
"Are you alright?" I asked. Sherlock nodded his head and went and slumped down in his chair. "Whats going on?" I asked.
"Its been a day since my last case," he said as he placed his hands to his mouth like he was thinking. "I need something to do," he said.
"How about we have some tea?" I asked. "We can talk, take your mind off of not having a case," I said. Sherlock was silent so I stood up and went to the stairs. I called down to Mrs Hudson. "Mrs Hudson, can you make Mr Holmes and I some tea?" There was silence and then Mrs Hudson peeked her head around the corner of the staircase.
"I'm your landlady dear, not your maid," she said as she disappeared. I turned around and saw that Sherlock was gone. I walked into the family room and spotted him in the kitchen.
"What are you doing?" I asked as I walked in.
"Making tea," he said. "I may be a detective but I can still make tea."
"Well there's something I didn't know about you," I laughed as Sherlock smiled.
