Sometimes I wonder why we spend so much time building things up, when we know they’ll just come crashing down eventually, leaving a bigger mess and less hope than we started with. Why trust, when trust is always broken? Why love, when it tears our hearts apart? Why live, when soon enough our hearts stop beating, our lungs stop breathing, and our words stop speaking? Why bother, when we know that everything is going to end, leaving us worse than when we started? Hope runs out after a while, just like time. Fear takes over at some point, no matter how brave we are. So why do we keep trying?
The thrills. When we’re on a natural high, whether it be love, or something physical, or something in our souls, we live for the intensity of our highs. We live for the same reason a person rides a roller coaster, even though they get a headache afterwards, or why people do drugs when in the long run, it ruins them. We love for the thrill it gives while still working out. We trust for the high we feel before it comes crashing down on us. We live for the thrills of life, even though it all ends in the long run.
Enter the lives of the Wasted. Those of us too damaged to see the purpose in really loving, living, and breathing. We embrace the highs of life, living shorter lives to the fullest. We climb so high, that it ends before we hit rock bottom. Living life on a high, never regretting or looking back. This is my life, forever unchanged.
