I just walked into the choir room and with one sweep of the room confirm that he isn't here.
I set my stuff down and take out my lunch going through the possible places he could be. I sit down and remind myself to breathe.
OK...Where could he be? The hallway, his locker, taking a test, getting lunch, or with his other friends.
I sigh and set my lunch down.
OK first place...the hallway...
I go out side and look in the window of the hallway.
Yup he's in there alright. I go back inside the choir room, grab my stuff and go back to the door and knock twice.
I breathe in deeply, trying to calm my nerves. I didn't mean to start liking him...it just happened and now...he's all I think about.
The door opens and there he is. All 6'4 of him. He smiles down at me and my heart skips a beat and starts thundering like drums. It's so loud I'm sure he could hear it.
"Am I allowed in or should I take a number? I don't want to interrupt." I say half-jokingly and half-serious. He smiles and laughs making my heart start back up its thunderous tempo.
"You aren't interrupting. Come on in." He walks to the piano and sits down.
"What are you playing today Maestro?" I ask while setting my backpack down and lean against the wall.
"Chopin. My teacher is having me learn it." He grimaces and laughs. "Do you want to hear it?"
"Of course." I slide down the wall, so I'm sitting against it. He begins to play and at first I'm fascinated by the way his face looks as he becomes immersed in the music. I start watching his fingers move smoothly and surely over the keys. I find myself watching his hands. Then something moves in his upper arm and I notice how muscular his arms are. Soon enough I am looking at the muscles in his back moving and flexing.
I close my eyes and let the music sink into me. The music slows then eventually stops. I reopen my eyes and find his green eyes searching mine. I smile and give him a thumbs up.
"Did you like it?" He asked.
"Isn't that what a thumbs up means?" I ask back acting confused.
"Oh hah." He smiles and bites his lower lip. "I'm serious though...What did you think?"
I had to look away from his gaze. I stared down at my hands.
"Well, I think it was beautiful but next time slow it down. Don't rush it. Its too pretty to be rushed." He nods and smiles.
"Sounds like a plan." He turns back to the keys and begins to play again.
I sigh and take out my lunch.
