44. Chapter 44
As soon as I open the door, I am startled by the sight in front of me. I spot her small but thin figure curled up on the bed. I feel her flinch as we enter. She probably expects another one of the boys to enter. Poor girl.
“Hey.” I whisper quietly not knowing what else to say to this poor girl. Her body instantly tenses and she slowly gets up from her curled up position from the bed so she can turn and face me. I have to stop the gasp from falling from my mouth as soon as I take in her whole appearance.
The first thing I notice are the prominent bruises forming in different areas of her face. Her hair is matted to her face from what I can only presume to be a mixture of sweat and tears. I also notice some small gnashes and cuts around her neck area which look like they could have been created from fingernails. Her hands her continuously shaking with fear and her eyes are wide and swollen from crying.
Is this what I looked like too?
She remains silent as she stares at me but her face changes to panic once she sees Harry behind me. I turn around to Harry but he stands there impassively not even shedding an ounce of care to this poor and broken girl. I scoff at him in disgust before turning back towards the girl and walking over to her. She flinches again but otherwise remains still.
As soon as I reach her I crouch down so I am the same level as her.
“Who did this to you?” I mumble to myself incredulously. I honestly don’t know why I’m so surprised I mean what else did I expect from these boys? Of course she was doomed the moment the boys laid their eyes on her. She visibly gulps but again remains silent.
“We have to help her.” I say to Harry behind me while not taking by eyes off of her.
“You know we can’t.” he says behind me and I sigh.
“Well if you won’t help her, then I will.” I say pursing my lips. This girls needs my help. She has already been through so much and it will only get worse for her. She has had her virginity ripped away from her and she will never get it back. I relate so much to this girl and I cannot let her suffer any more like I have. I will not let that happen. Besides, she looks no older than 16 making her even younger than me. These boys really are disgusting. I hear Harry groan behind me.
“Why do you have to be so stubborn? I knew it was a bad idea to let you come in here.” He says shoving yet another hand through his hair. I frown and turn my gaze back towards this fucked up boy.
“Harry you already knew that I would try to help her so just make this easy for yourself and let me help her. I can’t let her suffer like this because I know how it feels and I feel that it is my fault she’s here in the first place.” I explain myself to him.
“Why can’t you see I’m trying to protect you?!” he exclaims and my eyes widen.
“Protect me? You can’t be serious! You’re the one who got me here in the first place!” I say to him before standing up.
“Come on. We’re getting you out of here.” I say to the poor broken girl in front of me. Her eyes lighten up slightly as the words leave my mouth but they darken almost instantly.
“But how can I trust you?” I hear her croaky voice for the first time which only makes me want to help her even more.
“Because I’ve been through what you’re going through right now.” I say honestly showing her my arm where all of my cuts. Her eyes widen when she sees the still prominent ‘Harry’ engraved into my arm. I can see Harry tense slightly from the corner of my eye as I show the girl my arm. It’s good to know that he at least feels bad for what he and the rest of the boys did to me.
“Now come on.” I say to her while holding out my hand. She eyes my hand warily before grasping it weakly and standing up.
“There is no way either of you are going anywhere right now.” Harry says firmly from behind me and my mouth presses into a fine line.
I turn to face him once again and I find him slouching against the door with his arms crossed over his chest as he eyes us both carefully. I feel the girl, Damon I think her name is, step back ever so slightly. She is obviously intimidated by Harry’s harsh demeanour but I am growing more accustomed to Harry and he isn’t intimidating me as much as he used to. This is probably mostly due to the fact that he somehow can’t hurt me anymore.
“I’m helping her.” I state just as firmly.
“Hurt me all you want but I am.” I add in knowing this will catch his attention.
“Why do you keep on assuming I will hurt you?! You damn well know I can’t!” he hisses stepping away from the door and walking closer to the two of us.
“Yeah and I still don’t understand that but right now she’s more important to me and I will get her out of here even if that means that I will get hurt in the process.” I honestly have no idea why I feel so motivated to help this poor girl but I feel like I have to and I will. I just can’t let her go through what I went through. I just can’t.
“Yeah well I actually do care if you get hurt in the process and I’m not going to let that happen.” He says harshly and I freeze momentarily to take in his words. Did he just say what I thought he just said? I shake my head to rid myself of these thoughts. One problem at a time Amelia.
“Well then help me.” I say grasping Damon’s wrist gently and pulling her with me closer towards Harry and the door. She stiffens as we move towards Harry.
“Don’t worry. I won’t let him hurt you.” I reassure her. Harry clenches his jaw at my words but he knows damn well he cannot do anything.
I lead Damon towards the door pushing straight passed Harry. I suddenly feel his ever familiar strong grip on my arm and I smile knowing that I have won.
“Fine. I’ll help her Jesus Christ. But this will create so many problems between the guys.” He says in obvious irritation. I turn to face him with a huge smile on my face which is a nice change.
“Really?” I say in hope.
“I just said I would didn’t I?” he says angrily while reaching out and grasping Damon’s arm. She whimpers as I let go of her. I give her a sympathetic look.
“Don’t worry he won’t hurt you. I promise.” I say not sure if I actually trust my own words. But for some reason deep inside me, I have this small ounce of trust in Harry and I somehow know that he will do this for me.
“Wait here and I’ll get her out through the back door.” He instructs me. There was a back door this entire time?! Son of a bitch.
I nod my head and he looks deep in my eyes completely ignoring the frightened girl in his grasp. He reaches out and tucks a loose strand of my hair behind my ear before I can even react to it. This small gesture sparks something deep and familiar inside me making me jump ever so slightly.
“Just so you know, I’m doing this for you and nobody else.” He whispers to me before removing his hand from my face and walking out of the room with Damon leaving me utterly dumbfounded.
