Once I got home I ran upstairs and laid down on my bed. I was happy to see my father again, I didn't realize how much I missed him till I saw him. It also made me happy that Harry and my father got along so well. They're both into boxing, so there's no surprise that they did.
"So we're you sucking up to your father back there or do you really want to be with me?" I looked up, seeing Harry leaning against the rim of the door. I smiled.
"I don't know, probably a little bit of both." There were reasons why I didn't want to be with him. I mean the thing with Derek really ruined my trust between anybody. Harry would get with any girl that would let him, and besides what would Coach Barns say?
Harry came over and sat next to me. "You're really messing with my head." He smiled and I looked down. I felt like I would regret all of this.
"Sorry if I got your hopes up Curly, but I'd prefer staying single." He looked kind of upset when I said that. I grabbed a pillow and pulled it into my chest.
"Is this about Derek? Or me?" I brought the pillow up to my face, debating whether or not to scream at the top of my lungs.
"You know what, I'm tired, so you can sleep up here, and I'll sleep downstairs." I got up about to leave, when Harry grabbed my arm.
"Kam why won't you tell me?"
"Because, she's stubborn." I quickly turned to see my mom standing at the door. "It's time for you to move on, I won't let you leave this house until you tell him why." She walked closer to me. "I'm sick and tired of you spending all your time on boxing, you need to get a boyfriend and get a life!" She said getting closer to my face. Harry's hand dropped from my arm. "I'll be standing outside the door." My mom pushed down on my shoulders forcing me to see on the bed. She walked outside my room then, and slammed the door.
"You don't have to tell me if you really don't want to." Harry said whispering.
I turned around so I was facing him and looked at him. "No I'm going to tell you." I grabbed another pillow and pulled it closer to me. "When I was in High School I met Derek. We became a couple and we were a 'thing'. Everybody knew not to pull some funny shit on me or Derek would shove their head so far up their ass..." Harry laughed and I smiled a little, remembering all the fun we actually use to have.
"We had a new guy come to school, and he didn't know about Derek and I." His face haunted me everywhere I went till this day. "He gave me a ride home one day because Derek at football practice. A few days later he stopped coming to school." I pushed the pillow closer to me. "Derek kept a slight distance from me for a few days, because I was so worried." I looked at Harry. "Ater a week of him missing, our school was told that he was killed. They found his body in a garbage can at the football field." Harry's face went pale. "Derek finally spoke to me that day and asked me to come over to his place for a party, because they had just won their football tournament." I felt my eyes starting to water, knowing what happened. "He got drunk, and we all know what happens when tough guys like him get drunk."
I pulled the pillow closer to me, almost the the point where I couldn't breath anymore. "He tried to force me to do things I didn't want to, I wasn't strong as I was now, and he got away with some of it." Harry put his hand over mine, and I loosened the grip on the pillow. "Finally after he let me go, I left his house and tried walking home. He followed me and told me something I wish I never would have heard." I was surprised I hadn't started crying yet. "He told me he had killed the kid that gave me a ride home, and threatened to kill me if I ever told anybody." I smiled then. "But I'm stronger than him now."
Harry smiled a little too. "Yesterday when the police came, I tried to tell him what he did, but they said they had closed the case and weren't planning to reopen it." I squeezed the pillow again. "Derek's father is a police officer, and isn't allowing the case to be reopened. You could guess why."
"That's not fair." I shrugged.
"I can't do anything about, and Derek can't get to me anymore, so I have nothing to worry about." I heard my door open and my mom walked inside. She smiled towards me and sat down next to me. She brought me into a hug, which felt like forever. "Mom." I laughed.
"I'm sorry." She laughed and pulled away. Then I felt another pair of arms wrap around me, when I saw curls in my face I knew it was Harry. I wrapped my arms back around him. "You left part of the story out though." I wanted to slap my mom. "Derek wasn't only very protective, he was a player just like you." She said pointing to Harry.
My mouth dropped, I couldn't believe she just said that. Harry put his hands up in defense. "I'm really not." He shook his head. "I have never cheated, and most of the time the girls are coming to me." My mother raised her eyebrows.
"Yes Ma'am." Harry said, his voice almost had a little bit of fear in it. I smiled. My mother suddenly grabbed his t-shirt and pulled him close to her face. For a split second I almost thought she was going to kiss him...
"If you so much of make my daughter cry in a bad way, I'll break your arms to the point that you won't box for a whole year." Harry nodded, and took my mothers hand from his shirt.
"I'd never hurt your daughter."
"Ma'am." My mother said harshly.
"I'd never hurt your daughter, Ma'am." My mom smiled then, and fixed his hair a little.
"Wear protection, I don't want grand kids yet, and also don't be to loud I'm going to take a nap." My mother walked out of my room and closed my door. I slapped my forehead. Everything had officially gone back to normal. Harry snickered and pulled me close to him.
"Your mom scares me more than any opponent I have ever fought." He laughed against my neck. I smiled.
"She tends to have the effect on everybody. Oh to add on to that fear of yours, she keeps a handgun under her bed." I laughed.
"Are you being serious?" Harry stopped laughing, and his face was pale.
"Dead serious." I turned a little bit so my face was close to Harry's. I smiled as the tip of his nose met mine.
"Can we make it official now? We all know I would never be able to hurt you with your mother watching me." I laughed.
"Promise me one thing."
"You'll never let your career get the best of you?" Harry looked confused. "I've seen you fight, sometimes I feel like you fight more because of anger than you do for anything else."
"What's wrong with fighting for anger?"
"My father use to box only because his first wife died of cancer. He didn't care about anybody until he got a girl pregnant at a bar." I smiled a little. "When I came along, my father stopped boxing and became a coach with his brother, until he got sick a lot."
"So you were born by mistake?" Harry laughed a little, and so did I.
"It was a mistake at first, but my father always said I was a good mistake because I was the one to turn his life around."
"Your life has more purpose than mine, now I see why your mom is so protective." I brought my lips up to Harry's. Our lips moved in sync as he bit down on my lip. I smiled as he begged for an entrance.
He suddenly lifted me up and put me on his lap. It surprised me at first, but when he put his lips back to mine and our tongues danced. It was a funny feeling at first, I had never felt so much passion towards somebody in a long time.
I had missed this. When Harry finally pulled away, I had a big smile on my face, and my cheeks were a bright red. "Have you ever watched football?" I suddenly said breaking the silence.
"American football?" I nodded. "Nope."
I quickly grabbed the remote then and turned on the TV. Today was Superbowl Sunday, I didn't know who was playing, but It was February 2nd.
I soon figured out that the Broncos and Seattle was playing. Neither of them were my favorite teams, but I had dibs on Seattle, while Harry picked the Broncos.
It was kind of funny watching Harry attempt to cheer for his team. He didn't really know when something was good or bad, so even if Seattle got a touchdown, he'd cheer for them.
At the end of the game Seattle won, I was happy that I could brag to Harry. "You probably knew they were going to win because you know how American Football works."
"Nu uh!" He suddenly picked me and threw me back down on the bed. "Harry!" He sat on my stomach then, and pinned my hands to my side. "You're fat get off!"
"What was that?" He said leaning down closer to me, squishing me even more.
"You're fat!" I laughed trying to free my arms from his grip.
"Oh do you want me to get off?"
"YES!" I laughed, he let go of my arms then, and I sat up wrapping my arms around his neck. I pulled him down on the bed so he was laying down. I crawled on top of him then, straddling his waist. I put my forearm down his chest so he couldn't sit up.
"Are you trying to make me horny?" My mouth dropped and Harry laughed. I quickly pushed off of him then.
"You're gross!" I slapped his chest.
"You still love me though."
"Whatever Curly." I got up and went over to my cabinet. I opened it and went through it.
"What's that?" Harry came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Movies." I said trying to find a good one. Harry pointed to one. "The Titanic?" He nodded. "That movies so sad though."
"It's my favorite." He laughed. I groaned and pulled it out. I opened it up and put it in the dvd player. Once the movie started playing Harry went downstairs and made popcorn. When he came back up the movie started.
We both got under the blankets, Harry pulled me close to his chest, and I set the popcorn infront of me. The movie took forever, but when it got to the part when Jack was in the water frozen, and Rose was on the door. "There's so enough room for two!" I groaned.
"If that was me, I wouldn't get on it, because you'd push me back off calling me fat." I laughed.
"That's probably true." Once the movie ended, I set the empty popcorn bowl on the night table and went back over to the movie cabinet.
This time I pulled out Paranormal 1. It was one of my favorite movies. I had never thought that movie was scary. In fact, I made fun of it, because it was the worst made scary movie ever. I put it in, and liad back next to Harry.
Once we got half way through the movie, I knew a part was coming up that would make him jump. I waited for it, and soon enough Harry flinched. I began laughing at him. "Not funny." I continued to laugh. In almost every movie or book the girl would usually be the one that would go crying to her boy friend scared.
But not this time! I continued to laugh. "Aw poor Curly." I said, he rolled his eyes. "Come on lets go to bed." I turned off the TV. Harry pulled me back into his chest.
"We should probably train tomorrow, don't you think?" I nodded. "Do you have a gym around this small old town somewhere?"
"Actually we have on downstairs." I smiled, feeling kind of cool.
"Aren't you cool, you gotta boxing gym in your basement. Guess what?"
"I've got two in my basement." He smiled. I rolled my eyes.
"Good night Curly." I said messing up his hair. He messed up my hair then and kissed my forehead.
"Night Kamel." I smirked and rested my head on his chest. Right as I was about to fall asleep, I heard a loud snore come from the person next to me. I groaned and slapped him.
"Shut up I'm trying to sleep." I groaned.
"Sorry Gemma." I snuggled into his chest again, then stopped. I quickly opened my eyes and looked at Harry.
"Gemma?" Harry's eyes widened and he woke up.
"Did I say that?"
"Yes, you did." I crossed my arms across my chest.
"Don't worry about it, it's just my sister." Harry laid his head back down on his pillow.
"That's a shitty excuse." I threw the blankets off me and began walking downstairs.
"I'm not kidding Kam." Harry sat back up. I ignored him and walked outside, I closed the door and locked it from the outside. So when he woke up and was hungry, or wanted to exercise, he couldn't.
I walked downstairs and laid on the couch. It was cold because I didn't have a blanket, but I was right. I guess Harry really was a player...
