It was a silent ride to Niall's job. He still wouldn't tell me what it was. He would just sigh and act as if I never asked the question. I can tell he's pretty upset I came along. "Niall..." I started. "Yes, Emma?" He asked. I looked at him but stayed silent. He turned his head from the road to look over at me. I quickly changed my glance to my lap and mumbled a "nothing."
I noticed Niall began to slow down the car. He pulled up to an old building. It looked dull, and unsteady. Like it could collapse at any moment.
"Stay in the car, and keep you're head low." He said quietly before getting out of the car. "Wait! Niall!" I said after he closed the door. He looked back and put a finger to his lips. I slouched down in the passenger seat, so I wasn't visible from the outside.
I waited in the car for what seemed like for ever. I fiddled with my fingers, played on my phone, tried to take a nap, but failed on that one. I sat, bored, in the passenger seat waiting for Niall to come back out.
I began thinking, why would Niall come here for his work?
I put it aside in my mind and waited for him to come back to ask him.
More time had gone by, I was now very curious, so I slowly sat up, just enough to look out the window. There was no one around, except for some tatted people standing near the building Niall was in. They were obviously smoking something. One of the people began looking around and I hurried to slouch back down before he saw me. I was too scared to look back out again, so I stayed slouched.
There was a knock from the driver's side. I jumped and quickly put my hand over my mouth before I could scream. I looked up and saw Niall. I unlocked the doors, and he got in.
"What took you so long?" I asked, about to sit back up. "Stay down until I tell you sit up." He said. I continued to slouch in my uncomfortable position. He had driven out of wherever we were. "Ok, you can sit up."
"Want to tell me why I had to be invisible back there?" I asked. "Emma, you ask too many questions." He said. "Niall, I'm serious. Why'd you have me stay down?" I asked, once again.
"I'll tell you later." He mumbled. I sighed, knowing that he wouldn't tell me. "Would you at least tell me who those people were?"
He snapped his head quickly over to me. "What people?" He asked, almost angrily. "Those people who were standing outside of that building." I said.
"Emma! I told you to stay down!" He said. He rubbed the back of his neck, then hit the steering wheel, causing me to jump. "Did any of them see you?" He asked. "N-no... I slouched back down before any of them saw me."
He had let out a sigh of relief. "Thank god." He mumbled once again. "So, you going to tell me who they were?" I brought up the question again. "Those are people I work with."
"If you work with them, then why is so bad for them to see me?"
"Because they could kill you."
