Small Things

Poetry, what else?

12. Strange and Wonderful

Strange and wonderful things

Come to him when he sings,

The hairy mountain goat

And even the cunning stoat.

His voice is a whistle

Making the trees bristle

With it's haunting tune

Wrongly suggesting it brings doom.

Through the forest he will wander

Absently singing while he does ponder

Whether to summon the deer

Or to just let all the animals hear.

Sharp and shrill,

Up his spine is sent a thrill

From the clearness of his voice

Over which he has no choice.

Captivatingly magical

He often thinks it strategical

And uses it for mischievous deeds

To calm and console his needs.

The power that he wields

Can control all fields;

For the strange and wonderful things

That happen to him when he sings.
