"Miss Matthews." A middle aged, balding man called from the entrance to the doctors office. He looked like a nice enough man. With laugh lines around his eyes and mouth and a sparkle in his eyes that shows that he loves what he does.
"Umm er.. Yes?" I look at Lucas. He gives me a reassuring smile and nods towards the doctor. Shuffling my feet so slowly that I am barely moving. It was fast enough for me, maybe even a little too fast.
I've always hated the doctors. I don't actually know why anymore, but I just have that feeling that something bad id going to happen if I go in that little white room.
"Your boyfriend can come too if that would make you feel more comfortable." He smiles warmly looking between myself and Lucas.
"Oh he's not my-"
"Thank you sir. That would probably be a good idea" Lucas walked over and grabs my hand. Giving it a squeeze. It makes me feel slightly better to know that I will have someone in there with me. Mainly just to hold me down if need be. But still...
Lucas and I made an agreement that if the time called for it he would hold me down, even sit on me if necessary. In return for his good deed, he got to pick what was for dinner and I payed. It seemed for a good deal to me. At least I didn't have to put up with me trying to decapitate him.
We stepped through the door and Lucas immediately punched me down in the chair furthest away from the door. There were pictures, obviously drawn from little kids, hung around the room in a futile attempt to make it look less intimidating than it actually is. It didn't work for me.
"Okay Miss Matthews. I'm just going to need to take a little bit of blood." He smiled and pulled out a long shiny needle and a huge bag. A little bit of blood, my but.
As soon as he pointed that needle at me I made a runner. Launching myself at the door in a futile attempt to get away. I finally realized why Lucas had sat in the chair closest to the door. So he could catch me if I tried to run.
He held me down, wrapped his legs around mine and put one of his arms around mine still making sure that the doctor was still able to take my precious blood. His other hand went over my mouth to stop me from screaming. I tried my hardest to kick, scream and bite my way to freedom but it was pointless and soon became tedious, he wasn't going to let go.
When the needle pierced my skin I winced and immediately tried to cower away. I felt lightheaded, like he was slowly draining all the life out of me. Tears dripped down my face and pooled around where Lucas's hand met my mouth.
"Alright Miss Matthews, all done. That wasn't too bad now was it" he smiled and looked at the bag. My eyes followed his.
"Not to bad?! That was flipping terrible! It's like you take pleasure in taking the thing that makes me live! What the hell is wrong with you?" I struggle against Lucas's grasp, trying to get at the doctor and get my precious blood back.
"Sorry doctor. She's a bit feisty and over reacts ALOT. We'll just being going now . Thank you."
As soon as the door closed behind us and we stepped into the miss leading waiting room Lucas scolded me for being so childish. Saying that he was even slightly embarrassed to be around me. I shrugged it off and kept walking, wiping the few stray tears left on my face.
"So what are we going to eat?" I jumped in front of him. Suddenly excited about the fact that we were getting food.
"Maccas." He replied, not looking at me.
"OH MY GOD IM GOING TO GET SO MANY CHIPS!" I screamed and jumped up and down.
I heard him mutter something that sounded a lot like 'so childish' under his breath. He smiled and opened the car door for me before we headed to McDonalds.
