“No!” I woke up screaming in a bed.
Where am I? I looked around. Josh was sitting next to my bed asleep. How sweet. I was in a green room with video game posters all over the walls. Am I in Josh’s room? There were a couple video games and two controllers in front of a TV. Couple skate boards along the wall. Wow! This room is awesome! I sat up and pulled the covers off. I was still in my camo pants and black tank top. My dog tags were on the table across the room. My combat boots were by the door. I got up, put on my dog tags, and slipped on my boots. What time is it? I shrugged to myself. I’m going for a midnight run. Better write a note so Josh doesn't freak.
I walked over to a desk against the wall and saw a pistol. Cool! I grabbed it and hooked it to my waist. I found a piece of paper and quickly wrote a note saying I was going for a run. When I finished the note I set it on the bed. I walked quietly to the window and jumped. I landed on my feet and ran. I’m going to check on my house.
See if anything actually survived. I quickly arrived home to find Blaze and Mark still there. Hell! I slid behind a bush before they saw me. Why are they still here? I got closer so I could hear them talking.
“Good thing you knew the fire would happen or Josh would be heart broken,” I heard Blaze say.
“Yes. Josh would have lost his true love in the fire if I wouldn't have had Aubrey stay after school.” I heard Mark agree.
“She has amazing powers. You do know that Lucas will come wanting his sister back right?” Blaze asked.
Wait….. I don’t have a brother.
“Yes. We will have to tell him that he can’t marry her.” Mark said.
“Isn't it weird how vampires and werewolves can marry their siblings without it being a big deal?” Blaze asked.
I can’t take this anymore. I stood up and ran back to Josh’s house. I walked in the door as Josh was walking out. We nearly ran into each other. I could feel and hear his heartbeat. I breath caught in my throat. He looked down at me.
“Aubrey where were you?” Josh asked in a soothing tone. I gulped.
“As I said in the note I went for a run.” I said quietly. Josh lifted my chin.
“Where did you go that you needed a gun?” Josh asked at my ear.
His hand slipped the gun from my waist.
“You know as well as I do that Whicker and Janice are after me. I need to always carry protection.” I said trying to breathe.
Dang! He is really close! And he smells good enough to eat. Snap out of it! You can’t eat him! I hid my hands behind my back so they can catch fire all they want, as long as the rest of my body doesn't.
“Oh yeah. Well aren't you weapon enough? Can’t you shoot fire? Can’t you turn into someone they love? ‘Cause I know I can.” Josh said closing the door.
I looked into his eyes. They were cold not warm like Josh’s.
“You’re not Josh! Josh can’t do that! And his eyes aren't cold!” I said stepping away from the impostor.
The fake Josh sighed and changed into his real form. He had red hair and blue eyes like mine.
“Lucas?” I asked.
“That’s right doll. How’d you know it was me?” Lucas asked taking a step closer.
“I heard Mark and Blaze talking about you.” I said.
Lucas stepped closer and pulled me towards him. He put his mouth to my neck.
“So you know why I’m here?” Lucas asked.
“So are you going to except my offer?” He asked kissing my neck.
I shook my head. “Why not?” He asked.
“‘Cause I don’t know you!” I said.
He purred. “So you want to know me huh?” he asked.
I shook my head. “Not like that.” I said.
Lucas picked up my chin and put his mouth inches from mine.
“Oh? Well I do.” He said inching closer.
“Josh! Help!” I screamed.
Lucas laughed but I heard something move upstairs.
“What’s your little friend going to do to help? Come on sis. Come with me.” Lucas pleaded.
I shook my head.
“Get out of here!” I demanded.
“Fine! But don’t think I won’t come back to get you later.” Lucas said and he was gone.
Josh ran downstairs.
“Aubrey what happened? And why are your hands on fire?” Josh asked.
I shook my head and made the flames go away.
“To late for help now! My brother came here trying to get me to marry him.” I said angrily.
Josh came over and hugged me. See! He’s warm!
“Sorry Aubrey.” He said pulling out of the hug.
“It’s OK.” I said. I wish he would hug me forever.
“Where are Blaze and Mark?” I asked even though I already knew.
“They said they had something important to do and they would be back in a couple hours.” Josh said looking in my eyes.
Their beautiful Sea foam blue.
“How long was I out?” I asked.
“About five hours.” He replied. I gaped at him.
“Are you serious?! I was out that long!” I said. He nodded.
“Not really a big deal though.” He said. I shook my head.
