I'm back at Slender's park, but it feels different somehow. "Slender! It's me again! Come on!" I close my eyes. "Come and just touch my arm!"
Then seconds later I feel a hand close around my hand. "Hello," a boy's husky voice fills my ears.
I take in a breath, "Slender?"
"Yes and no."
"Open your eyes."
I slowly open my eyes and look at my hand. A white gloved hand is grasping mine. The arm has a black suit sleeve covering it. My eyes go up the sleeve to see the boy's face. Well, sort of. It's just white; no facial features. I take in another breath, "Um, uh, wow."
"Slender is away. I'm his helper," he moves to be right in front of me. Not letting go my hand though.
"Alright," I nod slowly.
"Are you afraid of me because you can't see my face?"
"You have a face?"
"Of course," he lets go of my hand and then with both hands takes of the white thing covering his face. I'm faced with a very handsome boy. He has long, wavy, dark brown hair with a fringe that goes right to left and covers his forehead; deep green eyes; full pink lips; a perfect nose. There's other things on his face, though. They appear to be burns. One on his left cheekbone, another on the right side corner of his mouth. There's one on the bridge of his nose, and I spot one on the corner of his right eye. He may even have a burn under his fringe. "Sam," he holds out his hand.
I grab his hand, "Rose."
"Nice to meet ya'. Now that I've got you we need to do a few things."
"Well, Slender's letting me leave."
"Of course he is. Once a girl comes into Slender's park and she catches your eye you want to leave. How old are you anyway?"
"Fifteen and a half," he starts pulling me.
"I'm 15 by the way. And where are you taking me?"
"To get my stuff at Slender's house. Clothes, books, video games, money, and other things."
"How did you get all that stuff?"
"You sure do ask a lot of questions," he sighs. "From the people that come into Slender's park."
"Then you owe me five bucks."
Minutes later Sam has his stuff (two backpacks and two big suitcases) and we're heading out. "Where's your ride?" Sam asks me. We split up his stuff so I've only got one free hand.
"Back at the hotel," I point ahead of us with my free hand. "It will only take a few minutes to walk there."
"Okay," he grabs my hand. "We better hurry."
"Why? What's the rush?"
"Slender can change his mind at any time. And I want to be as far away from here if he does."
"So he is real?"
"Of course he's real. And a very tough man."
"Why is he letting you go?"
"Because I asked."
"So many questions."
"I want to know everything."
"Well, because of someone."
"You'll know soon enough."
"Fine. Oh look, the hotel lights are coming into sight."
"That is a small hotel."
"Can you let go of my hand? Your grip is really tight and you're hurting me."
Sam lets go of my hand, "Sorry. I just didn't want to lose you."
Who is this boy who has just shone up out of nowhere? He's interesting and I can't wait to get to know him. Why me though? That's what I really want to know.
