I woke up to the door slamming open. I sat up, seeing my dad in the doorway.
Dad: Why is he still here?!
Me: Dad, please.
Justin sat up, seeing my dad. My dad looked at him, his eyes filled with fury.
Dad: I thought I told you to leave.
Justin: And I thought you can't tell me what to do, considering you're not my guardian.
Dad: Get the hell out of my house!
Me: Your house? Last thing I remember was this house belongs to my mother.
Dad: Get out before I throw you out!
Me: He's not leaving.
He stormed over to us, grabbing my arm and pulling me out of bed. Justin stood up and pulled me back, wrapping his arms around me.
Justin: Haven't you hurt her enough?
Dad: She's my daughter. I can do whatever I want to her.
Justin: Well, she's my girlfriend and I forbid you to harm her.
My dad scoffed.
Dad: You don't tell me what to do. You're just a kid.
Justin: I may be a kid to you, but I'm more of a man to her than you will ever be.
My dad's face was red. He was boiling with rage, I could tell. He stormed over to us as I hid my face in Justin's bare chest. Before he got the chance to strike, he was pulled back. I saw my mother pulling him back.
Mom: Jordan, stop!
Dad: Fifteen minutes! Fifteen minutes and that asshole better be out of here!
I could tell Justin was about to strike, so I grabbed a tight hold of his hand.
Me: Calm down.
He took a deep breath, rubbing my hand in assurance. I let go, facing my mom who was still in the room.
Mom: Dawn, go with Justin. I can't have you here with your father like this.
Me: Mom, I-
Mom: Get dressed and go. I'll deal with him.
I pulled away from Justin, walking towards my mom.
Me: Mom, he's gonna kill you. You can't-
Mom: I want you safe and Justin will protect you. I know he will.
Me: This is suicide. You can't do this.
I felt a hand on my wrist. I turned around, seeing Justin.
Justin: She's right, Dawn. The longer you stay, the more furious he will become towards you.
I sighed, looking at my mother.
Me: Okay. I'll go. But you have to promise me you'll call me when you're safe.
Me: Promise me!
She looked down, sighing.
Mom: I promise.
I wrapped my arms around her.
Mom: Just stay there until I tell you when it's okay to come back.
I nodded, pulling out of the hug.
Dad: Ten minutes!
Mom: Get dressed and take all your school materials, electronics, and journals with you. I'm sure Justin wouldn't mind getting you clothes and personal hygiene products.
Justin wrapped his arms around my waist, gently kissing my shoulder.
Justin: No matter the circumstances, I'd love to spoil my baby.
I smiled, looking at him. I looked back at my mom.
Mom: Get dressed and get going.
She turned around, but I grabbed her hand before she could walk out.
Me: Why did you do this?
She turned around to face me.
Mom: Because you're in love. You have a relationship with Justin that I never had with your father.
I looked at Justin.
Mom: Justin treats you the way your father should have treated me. I don't want you to make the same mistake I made.
I looked back at her.
Mom: I love the relationship between you and Justin. That's why I never split you two up.
Dad: FIVE MINUTES!
Mom: Get dressed and go.
I nodded as she walked out, closing the door behind her. I pulled away from Justin, walking towards my closet. I turned around to face Justin, giving him a look. He turned around, making me smile. I quickly changed into some jeans, a tee, a hoodie, and the black Supras Justin bought me.
Me: You can look now.
He turned around, pulling me closer to him.
Justin: That was fast.
I bit my lip, smiling. I pulled out of his grip, grabbing my duffel bag.
Me: Put your shirt back on and help me.
He nodded, picking up his tee from off the floor. He helped me put my electronics, journals, and school supplies into my bag when I heard a crash from downstairs. I threw the bag over my shoulder, grabbing Justin's hand.
I nodded. He smiled as we walked towards my balcony. I unlocked the door, opening it. We stepped out onto the balcony, letting go of each other's hand.
Justin: Ladies first.
Me: You go.
Justin: I'm being a gentleman here.
Me: I know, but...
Mom: Jordan, leave them alone!
Justin walked towards the ladder, climbing down it. Once he reached the ground, my bedroom door slammed open. I spun my head around, seeing my dad standing in the doorway.
Dad: What the hell do you think you're doing?!
I looked down at Justin who was holding out his arms.
Dad: Get your ass back in the house!
I sighed, swinging my legs over the railing. Just as my dad reached me, I was already falling. I landed in Justin's arms. He put me down, taking my hand in his as we ran towards his car.
Dad: Get back here, dumb bitch!
We got in the car, Justin starting it up and driving off.
We walked through the front door of his house, spotting Pattie on the couch. She gasped, probably noticing the bruises.
Pattie: What happened to you two?
Justin closed the door behind us as we sat down next to her.
Me: My dear came back.
Pattie: Is he the reason why you both have bruises?
Me: Yeah. He backhanded me in the face for rephrasing him.
Pattie: What did he say?
Me: Excuse my language, but he called me a slutty ass bitch. He wanted to apologize, but I couldn't forgive him, I just couldn't.
Pattie: How did Justin get a bruise?
Justin: He punched me in the face and told me to never see her again.
He lifted my head up, turning my head so I would look at him.
Justin: But...I couldn't stay away. She means too much to me.
I looked down at my lap, unable to look at him in the eyes.
Justin: So...I want to know if she can stay here until her dad leaves.
Pattie: If he's doing this to her, then she can stay.
I looked at her, smiling.
Pattie: Just no babies.
Pattie: I'm serious.
Me: That won't happen, anyways.
Pattie: Well, make yourself at home.
She got up from the couch.
Pattie: Justin, go pack.
When she walked away, Justin pulled me closer to him.
Me: Justin, if you think you're getting a kiss from me, you're out of luck.
He moved my bangs out of my face, gently touching the bruise on the side of my face. I winced, pulling away from him.
Me: It's not your fault.
I took his hand in mine and got up, pulling him with me.
Me: Let's get your things packed.
He nodded as we headed upstairs.
