We walked up to my front door, our fingers intertwined. We just got back from New York and my mom's probably waiting on me inside. When we got to the door, I turned around to face him, wrapping my arms around his neck.
Me: I really enjoyed spending time with you in New York.
Justin: Same here. Too bad I won't be able to see you for a few days.
Me: Why not?
Justin: I have to go to Europe for a few award shows, but I'll be back by Thursday.
Me: When do you have to leave?
Justin: Tomorrow night.
I lowered my head, removing my arms from around his neck.
Justin: I'll be back. It's not like I'm leaving forever.
Me: I know, but...
I trailed off when he lifted my head up so I was looking into his eyes.
Justin: It's only for three days. If you miss me, you can call me, okay?
I nodded. He brought his lips down to mine, kissing me softly.
Me: I wish I could come with you.
Justin: Same here, but I already told them in November I was going alone. The only reason I said that was because I didn't know I'd be dating you at the time.
Me: I understand.
I wrapped my arms around him, resting my head against his chest.
Me: I'm gonna miss you.
Justin: You'll be able to see me tomorrow.
Me: I know, but still.
He wrapped his arms around me, kissing my forehead.
Justin: I'll call you in the morning.
We let go of each other, looking into each other's eyes. One of his hands cupped my cheek, moving hair out of my face. He leaned in, capturing my lips in his. The kiss was soft and gently, but still filled with passion. Wrapping my arms around his neck, he deepened the kiss. As he pulled me closer to him with his other arm, the door opened behind me.
?: What the hell is this?
I pulled away, recognizing the voice. The voice I haven't heard in almost six years. I slowly turned around, seeing the face of the person I didn't want to see.
Her dad pulled her inside. Before I could take her hand and pull her back, her dad stood in the way.
?: I don't want you kissing my daughter ever again.
With that, he slammed the door in my face. I sighed, turning around and walking towards my car.
Me: What was that for?
Dad: I don't want you kissing that boy.
Me: You don't even know him!
?: What is going on down here?
We both looked up at the stairs, seeing my mother. Her gaze met my dad's, her eyes widening.
Mom: Dawn, go get ready for bed.
Me: Happy to.
I glared at my dad as I trudged up the stairs past my mom and towards my room.
Once I heard to Dawn's bedroom door close, I walked down the stairs.
Jordan: Long time no-
I did something I always wanted to do. I slapped him. He held his cheek as he looked at me.
Jordan: Avery, what the hell?
Me: I've wanted to do that for so long. You beat me so hard I could barely move.
Jordan: Avery, I-
Me: How could you do that in front of your own daughter? How could you put your hands on someone you swore you'd never hurt?!
Jordan: I was drunk!
Me: That was always your excuse for everything.
I crossed my arms over my chest.
Me: Why are you here?
Jordan: I wanted to apologize.
I turned around, spotting Dawn on the bottom step.
Mom: Dawn, I thought I told you to go to your room.
Me: You just told me to get ready for bed, not go to my room.
She bit her lip. I looked at my dad.
Me: You came to apologize?
Me: You could have apologized twelve years ago when you left.
Dad: I didn't leave. I was arrested.
Me: Yeah, for almost beating my mom to death.
Dad: That was years ago.
I scoffed, crossing my arms over my chest.
Me: And it's not like I'm forgiving you.
Dad: Why not?
Me: First, you put a gash in my arm, second, you told me my mother should have had an abortion years ago, and third, you called me a slutty ass bitch!
I felt a stinging sensation on my cheek, my head turning to the side as I collapsed to the floor. He...he hit me. I looked up at him, watching my mom trying to hold him back. He got out of her grip and picked me up by my hair, making me yelp in pain.
Dad: Don't you dare use that language in this house!
Me: Why do you care? I'm just a bitch to you.
I felt a blow in my stomach as I fell to the floor.
Mom: Jordan, stop!
Dad: The bitch needs to learn, Avery,
Mom: She's not a bitch! She's your daughter!
?: And my girlfriend.
I looked at the door, seeing Justin standing there. I slowly got up, making my way over to him. He wrapped his arms around me, but the hug wasn't long. My dad pulled me away from him,, getting in front his face.
Dad: I thought I told you to get your ass out of here.
Justin: Last thing I heard was "I don't want you kissing my daughter ever again."
Justin walked past him and over to me.
Mom: Justin, take her upstairs.
He nodded, picking me up bridal style and carrying me up the stairs.
I gently laid her down on the bed.
Me: Where did he hurt you?
Dawn: He slapped me in the face and punched me in the stomach.
I gently rolled up her shirt. When I saw a bruise forming on her stomach, I was beyond pissed. I felt like going back downstairs and punching the asshole in the face. I let go of her shirt, my fists clenched at my sides.
Me: I'll be back.
Before a single word escaped her mouth, I stormed out of the room. That bastard is gonna pay for what he did to my girl.
When he got downstairs, Avery was on the ground, covering her face as Jordan stood over her. Justin pushed Jordan into the wall, anger burning inside of him. Before Jordan could push himself off the wall, Justin pushed him again, his hands having a tight hold o. Jordan's shirt.
Justin: Listen, asshole. If you ever touch my girlfriend or her mother like that ever again, I will fucking kill you.
Jordan: That slut is your girlfriend?
With that, the anger boiling inside of Justin took over. He had no control over his actions whatsoever. He punched, kicked, and even threw him across the living room. Dawn saw everything going on while walking down the stairs. She ran over to Justin, pulling him back.
Dawn: Justin, stop!
He spun around violently, his eyes dark as coal. She put her hands on his cheeks, trying to calm him down.
Dawn: Baby, calm down. This isn't you.
Justin: He hurt you! You really think I'm-
To shut him up, she kissed him. All the anger flushed out of him as if he was under her spell. His arms wrapped around her waist as he kissed back, telling her he was no longer infuriated. She gently pulled away, smirking.
Dawn: You know, it's kinda sexy when you get mad.
He rose an eyebrow.
Justin: Oh, really?
He gently pinned her to the wall, capturing her like in his. As they kissed, Jordan stood up. When he saw the two lovers kissing, he was infuriated. Screw it, he thought. She needs to learn. He stormed over to the kissing couple, pulling them apart. He punched Justin in the face and threw him out the front door.
Jordan picked Justin up by his shirt, forcing him to stand up.
Jordan: I don't want an asshole like you near my daughter ever again.
He pushed Justin off the porch. Justin fell onto the driveway, blood dripping from his lip.
Jordan: Now get the hell out of here.
With that, Jordan slammed the door shut, leaving Justin outside alone.
Me: I hate you!
With that, I ran up the stairs to my room, tears rolling down my cheeks. I slammed the door shut behind me, plummeting onto my bed. I cried into my pillow, taking in what just happened. He can't do this to me! He can't just randomly show up and throw my boyfriend out. He can't!
As I continued to cry, I heard a faint knocking on my window. I sniffled, looking up to see Justin standing there with a bruise on his face. I jumped up out of bed, walking over to my balcony door. I unlocked it and opened it, automatically kissing him as he stepped inside. I pulled away, my hand caressing his cheek as I looked into his eyes. He wiped my tears away, smiling.
Justin: Stay with my mom while I'm in Europe.
I pulled away from him, shocked.
He took my hands in his.
Justin: It's the only way I'll know you're safe. Please! I can't bare to see you hurt.
I smiled, a hand resting on his cheek.
Me: In the morning.
He smiled, kissing me. Just before I could kiss back, he pulled away.
Justin: I'll stay with you tonight.
I laid down on my bed, looking at the time. Midnight. I looked at Justin, watching him take his shirt off before getting in bed beside me.
Justin: Like what you see?
I slowly nodded.
Justin: Soon enough, you'll see more than this.
I rolled my eyes, cuddling with him as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
Justin: I love you.
Me: I love you, too.
And just like that, we fell asleep.
