I got out of bed, stretching. I stood up and walked over to the balcony. I opened the doors and walked out of the room, the cool ocean breeze hitting my exposed skin. I looked out into the horizon, the waves cal my hitting the shore. I sighed. This reminds me too much of home. I'm getting more homesick by the second. A single tear shed just thinking about it. I want to go home. But then if I go home, then I'll miss Justin. I let out a shaky breath, trying to make my decision. Should I go home, be with my mom and miss Justin being around, or should I stay with Justin and become more homesick? Or, I can go home for h month of January and the first week in February then meet Justin in New York for Valentine's Day. That could work. I took in my last breath of the scenery and walked back into the room.
I walked into the room, seeing her sitting on the bed.
She looked at me.
Me: Dinner's ready.
Dawn: Thanks for notifying me.
She looked down at the floor.
Me: You okay?
Dawn: I want to go home.
My heart stopped.
She stood up and walked towards me.
Dawn: I want to go home, Justin. Is it possible if I could go home with your mom, since she's leaving tomorrow?
Me: It is, but...why do you want to leave?
Dawn: I'm homesick, plus I need to make up the two months of work I've missed. I can't miss two more cause then I won't graduate.
I bit my lip.
Dawn: If I go home now, I can get all my school work done, get caught up, and meet you in New York for Valentine's.
Me: I wanted to make it up to you for those four months I wasn't there.
Dawn: I understand that, but...
Me: If you understand it, then you wouldn't want to leave.
Dawn: Justin, we both know you'll be working most of the time and you'll barely have time to be with me.
She put her hand up to cut me off.
Dawn: Either you accept the decision or we stop this whole relationship.
I took a deep breath. I don't want her to go, but she also has to finished her work to graduate.
Me: I'll call you every day.
She smiled, wrapping her arms around my neck.
Dawn: I'm glad you understand.
Me: I'm gonna miss you, though.
She pulled away and looked up at me.
Dawn: I know. I'll miss you, too, but I have to get my school stuff done and you have to work on Believe.
I wrapped my arms around her waist.
Me: You're going with my mom tomorrow, right?
Me: Have you already packed?
Dawn: We got here four hours ago. I haven't unpacked anything.
Me: I made spaghetti.
Dawn: We better eat it before it gets cold.
She walked out of my room, leaving me standing there.
Once the flight number was called, Pattie and I stood up. Justin immediately wrapped his arms around me.
Justin: Don't go.
Me: I'll meet you in New York on Valentine's Day.
Justin: That's too far away.
He pulled out of the hug, but his hands remained on my hips.
Me: I know, but I have school to take care of.
Justin: Call me when you get home? You know, to let me know you're safe?
Me: I will.
He smiled, cupping my cheeks in his warm hands.
Justin: I love you.
Me: I love you, too.
He leaned in, covering my lips with his. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he brought my body closer to his. Just before the kiss deepened, we were pulled apart.
Pattie: Alright, you two. No making out in the airport.
With that, she headed to the plane. I looked at him.
Me: I gotta go.
He wrapped his arms around me.
Justin: I'll miss you.
Me: I'll miss you, too.
He kissed my forehead as we pulled out of each other's arms. I grabbed my bags and headed for the plane. When I walked past him, I swear I could see a tear fall from his eye. I walked through the gate and towards the plane.
I stood by the window, watching the plane take off once she got on. I sighed, feeling a tear fall from my eye.
Scooter: You'll see her again, Justin.
Me: I know.
Scooter: Come on.
He put his arm on my shoulder, guiding me away from the window. I miss her already.
I sighed as I looked out the window. I miss him already. It feels like just a second ago we were in each other's arms. For these few weeks without him, I think it's gonna be challenging to focus on my school work. He's always on my mind, even when I'm with him. My mind refuses to spit him out as if he's a jawbreaker in my mouth. I refuse to let him go.
?: You miss him already, don't you?
I looked at the seat next to me, seeing Pattie sitting next to me. I sighed.
Pattie: I bet he misses you, too.
I bit my lip.
Me: Do you think I did the right thing?
Pattie: Of course. I mean, yes, you're gonna be without Justin, but you have something you need to do before your relationship with him could become more serious.
Me: I'm doing this for both of us. He needs to work on his album. If he doesn't, then his fans will be disappointed and he doesn't want that.
Pattie: This is why I thought you would be good for him.
I rose an eyebrow.
Pattie: Unlike his past girlfriends, you're the only one who has had the guts to make him focus on his work and not on you.
Me: Well, since he'll be eighteen in two months, someone has to keep him in check when you move out. I'm just preparing him for when things are thrown at him and he has to focus on his work.
Pattie: That gives me less work to do.
Me: You're welcome.
I walked through the front door of my house. My mom doesn't know I'm here. I looked at the clock, noticing it was only 11:00 in the morning. I shrugged and plopped onto the couch. It's Monday, not my best day. Thank God I'm not going back to school until tomorrow. I sighed. What to do, what to do. Just then, my iPad went off. I took it out of my duffel bag and unlocked it. I saw a notification on Skype, saying I had a request. I went on, seeing the request was from Justin. I smiled and accepted. I saw his face on the screen.
Justin: I miss you.
Me: It's only been five hours.
Justin: I know, but still. I miss having you in my arms.
I rolled my eyes.
Justin: You know it's true.
Justin: Did you just get home?
Me: Yeah, but I'm home alone. My mom's at work and my friends are in school.
Justin: Well, I'm here.
Me: Not technically.
Me: Soon enough, we'll be seeing each other personally.
Justin: I can't wait until that day.
Just then, my phone went off. I took it out of my pocket and looked at it.
Me: I gotta go, Justin. Someone's calling me.
Justin: Okay. I'll talk to you later.
Justin: Love you.
Me: Love you, too.
With that, the screen went black. I looked at my phone, seeing Demi was calling me. I answered.
Demi: Hey. Happy New Year, by the way.
Me: Right back at ya.
Demi: So what's up?
Me: I just got home.
Demi: Really? Can I come over?
Demi: I'll be there in ten.
I hung up, putting my phone on the coffee table. At least I'll have something to do.
