I glanced at Angel, wondering what she would do next.
"Ha ha really funny guys!"she laughed.
"You got me!"she moved closer to the table and picked up a drink.
I didn't know whether she was serious or the pressure got to her.
Breaking the awkward tension, Cat said "Alright, it's Alex's turn."
The timer for the oven bleeped just as I was about to say something.
"I'll get that," Angel reassured, awkwardly walking away.
"Good, cause I'm starving," Jack said.
He walked into the kitchen to see if the food was ready.
I walked in and saw a plate full of pasta with the sauce Angel made my try earlier.
I saw three plates with different onions and peppers.
"The first one's Jack's because I know he doesn't like onions, and Catherine's has shrimp because I know you're a vegetarian."
She smiled at us and giggled.
I took a bite after I sat at the table.
"So, what do you think?"
"It's okay," I said.
"Are you KIDDING! It's amazing!" Cat stated.
"Jack?" she asked.
He nodded his head.
"I like it!"
"What about yours?" Jack asked.
"Yeah," Cat noticed.
Angel was empty handed.
"I kind of didn't make enough but-"
"It's fine! I think I'll manage" she replied.
I got up from the table to put my dish away while Jack and Cat were watching football.
"I've got it," Angel said.
"It's okay you've already done enough."
"What's that supposed to mean?" she asked.
"Nothing," I replied.
"Just go sit on the couch, I've got this."
I watched her go sit next to Jack.
Fuck. With the way that things are going, I don't know what the fuck to do.
I can't tell her the truth, not yet.
I can see them talking about something, and then Angel gets up.
If I hurt Angel, Jack would be pissed.
"Where are you going?" I asked her.
"I'm sorry Alex, I'll catch you later"
"I didn't mean to come here and interrupt anything."
Is she joking?
"What happened?" I asked.
Cat came out of the bathroom.
"Where'd Angel go?"
"I don't know, she just left."Jack said.
I could tell that he was lying.
Should I ask, or would that be rude?
"It's pretty late, so I can't blame her"
Cat walked back into the room.
Angel would never walk out like that, especially without saying goodbye.
Cat made her way to the door. I walked her out, and Jack didn't even say bye.
Once I got back inside I decided to question Jack.
Even I was a little curious.
"What happened with you and Angel? I saw you talking to her."
"What does it matter? She never even said if we were a thing or not. At least I thought we were."
"Don't sweat it dude, just because she didn't say it, doesn't mean she didn't think about it."
I realized what I just said and regretted it.
"That's not what I meant. Maybe she's afraid of commitment."
I don't think she is I know she is.
"I asked her about it, and she wouldn't tell me why, she just said she didn't want to say it."
"I didn't mean to make everyone leave."
"Angel was right, she is the life of the party," he chuckled.
"I visited Angel for her birthday, thought I could do it then."
"Okay mister, you're a little drunk today," I said.
I picked Jack up so I could drive him to his house.
"I love you man-"
"Ookay" I said.
" Let's get you back home."
"Can I just crash at your place man?"
"Yeah," I put him back down.
It's going to be a stressful day for him tomorrow.
