Alex texted me the next day.
Come over quick
I drove to his house and opened the door.
There was a bunch of people scattered around the house.
Most of the people I had never even talked to before.
Alex came from the right side of the room.
“Hey,”he said and hugged me.
Alex was holding a beer in his hand, and was dancing to Lady GaGa.
“Why did you tell me to come here?”I shouted over the music.
“Obviously because of the party.”
Jack came over and said hi.
He kissed me on the cheek, and it took me by surprise.
“There’s someone I want you to meet.”
“This is Lisa,”he said.
“Hey, I’m Angel,”I smiled.
“She’s a good friend of mine.”
Alex then went off to get some drinks.
“How long have you known Alex?”
At first she didn’t respond and then she said,
“Basically since high school,”she said with confidence.
I laugh at the fact that we randomly met at a Third Eye Blind concert. Other than that, I only knew him in third grade.
“It’s funny that he never talks about you. I’m surprised this is the first time we’ve met,” she smiled.
I fake smiled and brushed it off.
“He hasn’t mentioned you either, but I’m sure it’s a pleasure to meet you,” I tilted my head.
This energy wasn’t great for me. I got a kind of bitchy vibe.
I felt some sort of regret, am I really jealous?
Me and Alex have always been the best of friends. The thought of him having a girlfriend pained me, and I didn’t know why.
Maybe it’s this sort of reflex, the thought of Jack sleeping with someone else made me nervous.
Thinking is useless, it just makes me bring up the bad things.
What if Jack really had been seeing someone else?
It would make sense because I hadn’t seen him in two weeks.
I went to the bathroom, and once I came out Alex pulled me into a room.
“Sorry, I just have something to tell you,”he said.
“He grabbed a red box and gave it to me.”
I pulled off the top cover and it revealed a black shirt.
I dropped the box, excited to see what it said.
“I was supposed to give you this a while ago but-”
My jaw dropped.
On the front was my artwork, and on the back was my name.
Original artwork by Angel
“We came out with merch,”he smiled.
I looked at his nose, “Is it okay?”
“Yeah I’m fine, it doesn't matter.”
“You’re a part of us now.”
