"Destiny? Are you okay?" Niall called from outside my room. I didn't respond. "Please, Destiny! Don't be like this!" Still, I stayed quiet. "Fine. I'll come in myself." Niall turned the doorknob, only to see I had locked it. "Shit." I heard him mutter. "Destiny, open your door now!" I groaned and unlocked my door. I didn't say anything, I just walked back to my bed and covered my face with my pillow.
"Go away." I said, my voice muffled from the pillow.
"Destiny, please don't be like this. I know that you just started a new life and found out your previous family isn't yours, but you can't just stay in your bedroom all day."
"Can you ever respect my wishes for once?" I spat.
"You can't stay here all day!" Niall pulled me out onto the floor.
"Ow! I have a bust, you know!" I clutched my stomach.
"Sorry. Here, I'll get you back up." Niall picked me up bridal style and set me on the bed. "You're gonna have to get used to that." He smiled. I rolled my eyes.
"I don't want social interaction with anybody right now." I pulled my head over the covers, but Niall grabbed my hand first.
"You have tattoos?"
"Yeah. I got them three years ago, but my mom-well, my fake mom-made me remove them. But I just got foundation and put it over my tattoos when needed. I didn't want to get rid of them because I wanted people to see the invisible vines that still hold me from doing amazing things. At least, that's what I believe them to represent." I pulled my hand back.
"But you can do amazing things. You're Zayn Malik's little sister!"
"Yeah, the one in his shadow. And that's all I'll ever be."
"Just leave me alone, Niall. All of you." I pushed him away. Niall looked at the door, then at me. There was a silence.
"Let us take care of you when you're ready." He kissed my forehead and walked out.
