"Skylar Jane, get out of bed this instant!" I awoke startled at the sound of Julia's voice echoing through my house.
I forgot that I gave her a spare key, so she could show up at my house anytime without me knowing.
I sat up in bed only to be blinded by the bright sun coming through the windows.
I walked downstairs into the kitchen, not minding how I looked since Julia was more like a sister to me so she wouldn't care.
When I entered the kitchen, I found Julia stuffing her face with a peice of peanut butter toast.
"And you didn't care to make me one?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips and pouting.
"Maybe if you woke up earlier, I would have made you something." She snapped back, finishing the last piece of her breakfast.
"What a nice bestfriend you are."
I walked over to the already-open bread bag, and grabbed a slice before sticking it in the toaster.
"I already knew I was nice, you don't have to tell me twice." She stated, adding a wink to her comment.
I gave her a smirk, leaning on the counter waiting for my toast.
A beep came from the toaster, indicating my breakfast was ready.
Julia slid the peanut butter across the counter, knowing it was what I craved.
Yes, I have a craving for peanut butter.
I took a bite out of my delicious breakfast, wiping the sides of my mouth with my finger.
"Um, did you forget about something missy?" Julia asked, turning her head towards me with a questioning expression on her face.
I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion at her question before remembering what I forgot.
"Oh my god! I have to work today!" I panicked, swallowing the rest of my toast and running out of the kitchen.
I made a sprint up to my bedroom, throwing on a pair of jean shorts and plain t-shirt.
My hair had been straightened from the day before, so I brushed it out and stuck a headband in it.
I grabbed my bag and ran back down the stairs, scrambling to find my car keys.
I waved Julia a quick goodbye, running out the door and starting my car.
The parking lot seemed to be full as I glanced around trying to find a place to park my Jeep.
I finally found a spot at the very end of the restaurant, the main entrance being at the other side of the building.
Grunting, I grabbed my bag and jogged my way to the doors to lead me into my job.
I noticed that the restaurant was more crowded than usual, my brain not being able to think of a reason why.
I pushed my way through the large mass of people before entering into the "Employees Only" room. My co-worker Gabriella greeted me, biting into an apple from the snack area in the room.
"Hey Skye. Late to work, I see?" She asked, giving me a smirk.
I returned the look with a glare, knowing she was joking but I wanted to give her one anyway.
"Yes, and I need to get out there before I get fired." I stated tying my apron and leaving Gabriella alone to finish her apple in silence.
I quickly grabbed my notepad with a pen, trying to be unnoticeable so no one questions where I had been.
I made my way over to the couple standing by the main entrance, chatting while waiting to be waited on.
I greeted them with my normal routine, leading them to an empty booth before asking for their drink orders.
"I will have an Iced Tea." The woman nicely told me, the man adding to the order a glass of tap water.
"I will be right back with your drinks." I gave a friendly smile, before turning my back to the booth and making my way to the kitchen.
I said quick hello's to the other waitresses and waiters as I found two clean glasses from the cupboard.
The Iced Tea flowed smoothly out of the dispenser before becoming ice cold when it met the ice I had added first.
I carefully dodged people all around me, careful to not spill the refreshments.
I managed to arrive at the table without making a mess, placing the drinks on the table in front of the couple.
After taking their orders, I stuck the sloppily written order sheet to the top of the counter for the chef to see off of.
I waited on another table as the meals were being made and perfected for the couple's liking.
I heard the bell indicating the order was ready, so I scurried over to the counter to deliver the food before he gets cold.
The nice couple thanked me for their meals as the lady placed her napkin in her lap and took a small bite of her pasta.
"This is delicious!" She exclaimed with a huge smile on her face and a glimmer in her eye.
"I'm so glad!" I replied, "Enjoy your meals."
I left the couple to chat and enjoy their lunch, as I found my way to another booth accompanied by a large group of people.
The plates of their food were piled up in the middle of the table to give more room for them to chat I guess.
I nervously picked up the tall pile of plates with both of my hands due to the heavy weight the pile takes up.
It was difficult for me to see through the tall, and may I say fragile, objects in front of me.
My hands were beginning to give out on me, but I knew it was only a little farther before I reached the kitchen.
The white plates covered my ability to see what was in front of me before I ran into something, or someone, causing the plates of half-eaten food to land all over my apron and clothes.
I could see out of the corner of my eyes that everyone was staring, forks raised halfway in the air not making one move.
I have never been so embarassed before and whatever or whoever I ran into didn't even bother to say sorry.
Ugh, what a jerk.
I started to clean up the broken peices of glass and food that had fallen onto the ground, when I heard a voice come from above me.
"I am so sorry. I didn't see you there." The mysterious voice apologized, bending down to help with the mess.
Wait a minute, that voice sounds awfully familiar.
Where have I heard that accent from?
"Oh it's okay, the plates blocked my vision so I couldn't see y---"
My voice faded as I picked my head up to see who the stranger was, and where I heard the accent from.
My eyes stayed focused on the familiar face in front of me, the rest of the restaurant returning to their conversations.
His accent was stronger than I remembered, eyes more beautiful than before.
I asked, my mind filled with thoughts and questions I didn't have answers for.
I tilted my head to the ground and noticed what a mess I was with stains all over my clothes.
I ran to the bathroom as fast as I could, leaving my childhood friend behind and recieving questionable glances from people eating their lunch.
I pushed open the door to the ladies room and looked at myself in the mirror.
Did that really just happen?
I have waited for such a long time to finally be reunited with my bestfriend from when I was a kid, and now when I do I make a fool out of myself.
He probably left, knowing of how much of an embarassment I am and doesn't even want to have a conversation with me.
Way to go, Skylar.
You scared him away.
I tried to push the thoughts to the back of my mind and attempt to get the stains off of my outfit.
The wet paper towel didn't seem to help very much then to lighten the spot a little bit, but it is still visible.
I eventually ignored the spot and hoped no one would notice it as I quietly opened the door to the commotion outside of the bathroom.
I casually walked into the dining area, seeing if the mess had been cleaned up or not. Amazingly, it had been, so I decided to apologize to the manager in the kitchen.
I felt a hand grab my wrist as I was turned around to face the person I was hoping to see.
"Skylar, is it really you?" Niall asked, a sense of hope glimmering in his eyes.
"Yes, Niall, it's really me." I chuckled, giving him a smile which he returned, showing his perfectly white teeth.
"I am so sorry about running into you again, I seriously didn't even see you there." He apologized, his voice sounding sincere.
"It's okay," I forgave him, "I'm invisible most of the time anyways, so I understand." I added, giving a small grin as I rocked back and forth on my toes.
"I find that hard to believe." His strong accent filled the air, eyes bright and smile big.
I tried to wrap the words that just came out of his mouth around my brain.
What does he mean he finds it hard to believe?
I was just about to ask him when his sweet voice filled my ears once again.
"Can I buy you a new shirt.. or something?" He asked shyly, sticking his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
"No, it's okay. Thanks for the offer though." I thanked him, adding a blushy smile.
"C'mon, can I at least buy you a coffee? My treat." Guilt filled his eyes, and I knew I couldn't turn down his offer.
"Sure! Let me just go tell my manager I'm taking the rest of the day off."
I quickly hurried to talk to my boss, that way I had more time to catch up with Niall.
"My boss said it was fine!" I said excitedly, joining Niall by the entrance to the restaurant.
"Perfect! Are you ready to go?" He asked, my response being an over- enthusiastic yes.
He turned on his heel after giving me one last smile, which for an unknown reason made me blush a little bit, and exited through the door, me following right behind.
