The days turned to weeks and the weeks to months... Soon enough the snow was edging around the windowsills and was piling onto the many turrets of the castle. Students were no longer strolling around the courtyard but were hurrying past the corridors in their dragon hide potions gloves, taking the long route to every class. Winter had come early that year since it was only the first of December. In Australia it would be the first day of summer, I wish I was there now...
Yet, this was the first time I had seen snow and it fascinated me... I would make Albus and Rose walk with me to the windows where I could see the ice crystals hanging under the window frame or the snow gently falling on the piles Hagrid was creating to make a walkway to the his hit.
The only downside to this weather was that we had to trudge along the snow to the Herbology Greenhouse. The cuffs of our robes would get wet and it would send a cold chill up our spines when they touched out legs.
On one particular occasion, Rose Albus and I were trudging along to Herbology with the Ravenclaws when a snowball came whizzing out of the air and hit Albus in the back of his robes, leaving a snowy covered damp patch. I turned to see who it was and saw Scorpius standing up near toe stone steps, bewitching a pile of snowballs just like the demented one that lay next to Albus' feet.
"Ready Williams!" He yelled across the yard while picking up a snowball "This one's for you!" I was too fast for him. I ducked as the snowball came hurling towards me. It spun around and come back for a second hit as I whipped out my wand.
With a swish and a flick and a thought in my head, the snowball changed course and went straight for Scorpius. As he ran, the whole pile of snowballs got up and went chasing after him, they squeezed through the front doors and were out of sight.
"Woah, how did you do that?" Gawped Albus as we continued up to the greenhouse. He didn't know about the wand and the prophecy or the conversation between the teachers. He was safe.
"Just something I picked up," I said with a giggle.
We got to greenhouse three ten minutes late... "Oh what are you three doing here!" Said Professor Davies the Herbology teacher "I just marked you off as absent."
Albus turned to her with a charming smile "We are very sorry porfessor, I was sending an owl to my father because I just miss him so much... I asked him if he could come to the castle some time to visit, maybe he could give his speech while he's here, give you some time off teaching."
He fluttered his eyes and miraculously we were excused, at that moment I wished I had famous parents.
