When we got back to the house we saw James sitting at the table holding a letter with a huge grin on his face "I'm Griffindor quidditch captain!" He said excitedly before running out if the room.
That night Hermione ordered fish and chips and we sat comfortably in the living room eating our own share on one of the pieces of paper the orders came in. James was sitting on the floor with a white board and a pen drawing lines and patterns, constantly referring back to Quidditch throughout the ages. Rose and Hugo were talking in whispers while playing a game of Wizards chess while Rose sat in the corner of the comfy old couch polishing her wand excitedly. I was on the other end of the couch reading the standard book of spells grade 5.
That night I couldn't sleep, not even by the small snored coming from Rose's side of the room or the tosses and turned from Lily as she slept... Dreaming excitedly of the days to come. I sat there in silence, staring at my fully packed trunk, Nyctea's cage rest stably on top with the small chirping bird inside. I couldn't help but think about my wand. The wand that doesn't wait for my incarnation to react, the wand that is undetectable...
I must have drifted off to sleep at some point because I woke with Lily jumping up and down on the edge of my bed, giddy with excitement.
"Wake up Grace! It's time to go! Were gonna go to HOGWARTS!" I laughed and got up. I picked up the pile of clothes I set out the night before and got dressed.
I was wearing a white sweater and a pair of black leggings. I supposed it might be cold so I slipped a matching black scarf out of my trunk.
After a hastily eaten breakfast we filed into the car. Hermione was to be driving because Ron was at work. It was a rather silent drive. We were filled with to much anticipation to speak. I sat and stared out the window. Was this to be the last time I would see this house? Would Rose and I still be friends after the sorting?
Lily gasped with delight at the great scarlet steam engine roaring above us "Goodbye everyone!" Said Hermione as she kissed Hugo on the forehead "Grace, you're welcome to stay for the Easter break if you would like," "Thank you Mrs Weasley but I promised my mum I would go back to my house for Easter." "Another time then..." She said before pushing us all on the the train.
We wandered through the corridor as the train jolted into action. There were no empty carts so we entered one where a small girl with beautiful brown hair and matching brown eyes was sitting looking at her textbooks, judging by her excited glances out the window, she was a first year. "Hello, what is your name?" Rose asked as we filed into the compartment. Just then a few older looking boys ran past. James caught their attention then went running after them. "I'm Emma," she said excitedly before turning back to her books, she wasn't reading, just looking at the pictures.
