21. Canary Yellow
The minute we entered Diagon Alley, we split up. Hermione was going to go and buy all our school books while Harry and James went to get a new broomstick. Lily and Hugo needed their first wands so Albus offered to take them down to Ollivanders and organised to meet us at the Weazley's wizard Wheezes before leaving Rose and I alone to buy our dress robes.
There were a few shops for dress robes down the street. We stopped at a rather pretty looking store called Witches' Dailey desires and wandered in. Rose was in her element, there were racks upon racks of all different looking Dress robes. Pink ones with flashing diamonds, long white silky ones, Short party robes that changed colours... Shoes that sung while you walked, high heels with anti slipping charms and an assortment of different jewellery. Rose picked out her dress before I knew what happened. It was a lilac silky dress that just touched the floor at the back. It was elegantly fitted at the top but the bottom looked like an assortment of waves in different shades of the same purple. The top was a very low v line, emphasising her collarbone. She looked beautiful.
It took Rose over fourty-five minutes to find at least three dresses that I would try on. I knew I wasn't pretty, I would never be but I wasn't ugly either. Just average, I have always been just average. First I tried on a lime green dress. It wasn't very well fitted and looked a bit puffy around the shoulders. The second didn't do well either, it was baby pink and wavy but was to short for a ball. I was about to try the third one on, which was blue with a diamond encrusted neck when I saw another dress out of the corner of my eye. I tried it on.
It was canary yellow and contrasted well with my tanned skin. The top half was made of a harder material and fitted perfectly. The lower half flowed down to the floor just past my feet in one swift movement. It had a yellow diamond encrusted belt at the front topped off with a bow. It was perfect. I still wasn't pretty, but I was noticeable...
I saw some silver owl earrings and a matching necklace at the counter, I put them on the pile with my dress and silver flats (I would never wear heals) and purchased them. We were going to be late to meet Albus, Lily and Hugo so we has to jog back up Diagon alley and reached the Weasley Wizard Wheezes just as Albus and the others entered.
