18. Books and Frames
"Ready to go?" She asked, but i wasn't listening, I had just thought of something "Yep, can you wait a sec?" I replied. I ran down the hall before I got her answer. I opened the door to my room and pulled open my sock drawer. I carefully dug through the contents before I found a small pink piggy bank, hand painted with flowers from the second grade. I haven't spent a cent since them and I had finally found a reason to. I emptied the contents into my purse, along with the money given for my school supplies by my parents and set off...
Rose's house was beautiful. It seemed to be a combination of the burrow and a muggle family home. There were self cleaning dishes and magical feather dusters dusting the curtains and even a wooden old broom that seemed to be sweeping a pile of crumbs into a dustpan. There were also normal muggle appliances and even a television. The house was on a 15 acre lot. There was a cluster of trees close to the Back of their yard, far away from the highway that I supposed was the quidditch pitch Rose was talking about. In the kitchen, there was a small bookshelf full of cookbooks. There were normal cookbooks like 60 minute meals but also things like charm your own cheese "From Dragon Milk Cheese to Cured Cheese Potions."
"Mum, could she come?" I heard a yell from somewhere further in the house that bought me out of my thoughts. Rose came running into the room where I was standing with Hermione. She squealed and ran over to hug me. It had only be a couple of days but I felt that we hadn't seen each other in years.
"Grace! Finally! How were your holiday?" She asked, "Pretty boring actually," I replied "Come on i'll show you my room." I followed her out of the kitchen and down a narrow corridor, family photos were spaced evenly on the walls in little black frames. The were all moving. The first one seemed to be a while ago, there was Rose and who I assumed was Hugo sliding down a water slide. The next seemed to be at a park, their family was sat on a picnic blanket enjoying some foods I've never seen before. The final one seemed to have only been taken a while ago, there was Rose, alongside her was Albus, in front of them were Lily Potter and Hugo and at the back was Hermione, Ron, Harry, Ginny and James all smiling down at me. The actual Harry Potter was in this photo, the person I've only been obsessing over my whole life!
Rose opened a door near the end of the corridor. The room was purple in colour with a beautiful patchwork quilt resting on top, embroidered with pink and purple roses. On the opposite side of the room was a small white desk, resting on top of it was an empty cage. There was a small window seat in the corner and the most magnificent bookshelf I've ever seen. There were large wizard text books as well as small muggle fairy tails and novels of all sorts. Colour coded and ordered from largest to smallest. When I took a second look I noticed that there were books everywhere, on her bed, on her desk and on her chest of drawers. I smiled, this was my kind of room.
