44. Chapter 44
The bright sunlight shines through white wooden panelled windows, freely flowing into the white scrunched sheets. The strong morning rays warm my body, a small smile spreads across my face. I reach my hand for Harper's. Not being able to find it, I realise that Harper must no longer in bed.
Looking around the house I find Harper no where to be seen, her purse and phone are left behind on the dining table. My heart begins to beat at a million times a minute, Harper always leaves a note and takes her phone for safety precautions. But I find none of such nearby. Where has she gone?
I decide the best idea would be to drive around the neighbourhood. As I enter the vision of the front door, I notice the door wide open with the nearby table lying sideways on the ground. The inner glass smashed into a million pieces. Blood covering small shards that are now scattered along the old wooden panels. Now I know that something is certainly wrong, Harper has been taken by violent force.
I feel suddenly dizzy, my head feels light, as though I'm about to pass out. My stomach instantly starts to churn. My insides feel as though they are arising into my throat. I dry gag and struggle to stay upright. I stand with my hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath. I forced my eyes shut as hard as possible. Hoping this is a bad dream.
'It's only a dream, Harper's fine.' I whisper to myself, but the doubt in my voice clearly speaks for itself. This is not a dream, this is real life.
