"I see you wore red and white today," I heard a voice behind me say. I could hear the smirk playing on his lips.
I grabbed my binder out of my locker and shut it loudly. The metal slamming together echoed off the halls. No one turns to look because it was a normal sound to hear during the school day.
"Why wouldn't I?" I asked with a smile. There stood my friend Josh smiling at me. I checked out his outfit and saw that he was all decked out in our school's attire. A red shirt with white lettering that reads "Hall Cross Academy" and on the back was a picture of our mascot, a ram, he had on some white basketball shorts and red Nikes. It's weird how he is wearing basketball shorts when he doesn't even play.
"Aren't we very... Peppy... today?" I laughed at him. He looked down at his outfit and gave me a questionable look.
"Peppy?" he asked. I gave him a smile. "What's wrong with my outfit?" he asked.
"Oh nothing. Let's just say, if I loose you in a crowd, I will be able to find you," I winked. The bell rang signaling the students to get to class. "See ya around Josh!" I called as I hurried to my first class.
I sat bored in my last class, only having a broken pencil entertain me for the last 5 minutes. The teacher was going on and on about tonight's game and the history of so- I mean football. This is going to get some getting use to. I glanced up at the clock and saw that class is over in less than a minute. The sounds of students, and myself, packing up all their stuff was heard by the teacher. She looked up at the clock and gave us a smile.
"Alright class. No homework tonight. And let's wish our Rams good luck tonight!" she cheered. Everyone groaned as the bell rang. I looked at everyone confused as they all walked out of the classroom. I grabbed my stuff and headed towards my locker. On my way to my locker, I took notice in what everyone was wearing.
I smiled as I saw Josh standing at my locker with my locker open for me. "Why thank you," I said in my best British accent. He just laughed at me and I playfully shoved him out of my way. I started putting things into my locker and taking stuff out to put in my bag.
"You ready for tonight?" I heard Josh ask from the side. I could almost hear the smile playing on his lips. I then notice the noise in the hallway dying down. Not many people are here. Maybe they are on the field?
"Why don't a lot of people dress... Like you?" I hesitated a bit. I turned to look at him as I zipped up my backpack and shut my locker. He looked around then back at me.
"Well... This school hasn't won a football game in who knows how long," Josh told me as we started to walk down the hall. I slowly nodded.
"So then why do you get all decked out?" I asked him honestly. I looked up at him but he kept looking forward. He then made a sharp turn, grabbing my arm and dragging me in the process. I was up against a wall. I gasped and noticed that he had his hands on either side of my head. I looked around and noticed we were all alone.
"Because I still believe we have a chance to come back... But no one else does," he spoke, merely inches from my face. He pushed himself off the wall then stepped back a bit and turned to look at me. "You coming?" he asked me. I stood there wide eyed then nodded. I slowly walked towards him. He then lead me down a hallway that I haven't been down before.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked him. He turned to me and gave me a smile. He continued to lead me down the hallway and I saw a set of doors leading to the outside.
"Wow... I thought you of all people would know where this leads to," he laughed at me. I gave him a confused look.
"I may be new," I started to say. Josh gave me a "You sure about that?" look. "Ok. Newer than everyone else. But what makes you think I would know where this leads to? I still get lost trying to get to my classes," I told him. Josh just laughed at me and opened the door leading out to the light of day. We walked a bit then entered a little building then out another door. My jaw dropped once I saw what he was talking about.
"What do you think?" he asked me. I was completely astonished. Completely lost of words.
"How come I have never seen this before?" I asked him. I kept looking around.
"Well, you are new-er to this school," he smiled. I couldn't believe this. I mean I knew this school had a team but I didn't know it was so- football. I can't believe how big this place is! It's bigger than the American football field my old school had... And we were a BIG school. I loved soccer as a kid. That was my sport.
"This is HUGE!" I exclaimed. Josh grabbed my hand and lead me up the bleachers and into the booth. He sat down in the seat and rested his elbows on the counter.
"I am the announcer for the games," he smiled. My eyes widened. That always seemed like so much fun to me when I was little. I looked out the window and noticed someone walk on the field. I couldn't see his face.
"Hey Josh? Who's that?" I asked. Josh stopped whatever he was doing and looked out the window. He followed my gaze the to guy.
"He," he pointed to the boy gathering equipment, "was the greatest football player in not only Hall Cross Academy history, but high school history," he told me.
"Was?" I asked. I was getting confused now. Josh nodded.
"Before him, our team wasn't doing too well. Like we are now. We haven't won one game till he came along. In fact, he lead our team to the semi-finals," he paused. I continued to look at the boy. "After our team won that game, some big shot couches asked him if he wanted to participate in their charity football match. He was famous and word spread quick about him. Once the school found out, the school was in an up roar. The whole school came to watch him. Within the first 10 minutes of the game, he jumped up to hit the ball only to have a player tackle him to the ground. It was a pretty big tackle by a pretty big guy. He broke his leg in 3 different places, bruised his ribs, and fractured his wrist. The whole school witness this horrid event take place," he paused yet again. "Our team lost the championship and he never played football again," he finished.
I stood there speechless. I had no words at the moment. I took a deep breath and turned my attention away from the boy and focused on Josh. "Again I ask... Who is he?" I asked him.
Josh swiveled his chair to face me.
"That boy... Is Louis Tomlinson."
Welcome to "Fresh Start"! (crowd applause)
Thank you! Thank you! (crowd applause dies down) Mystery_Horan_Girl and I are more than happy to be here with you today and until this ends.
So what do you guys think of the first chapter?
Hall Cross Academy is an actually school in Doncaster. And Louis went there as well :)
This is going to be a fun to write. Just like the ones Mystery_Horan_Girl and I have written. We always have a blast writing (typing?) stories together.
