A Journey in Cambridge

Autumn Rayne is a 19 year old college student who wants to major in Journalism in the University of Cambridge.

With a sweet boyfriend, a full-time scholarship, and her best friend Jo, things couldn't get any better.

Not until she accidentally trips and spills her drink on the popular frat boy, Niall Horan.

Things just couldn't get any better for Autumn, now could it?

I sit there soaked in Sprite as the girl blushes and apologizes. "I'm so sorry...uh...here." She grabs a glass of water from the table over and dumps it on me, "There, that should be less sticky."

All I managed to say was, "Uh, thanks..."

She turns pink and I was about to reassure her I was okay when she grabbed a wad of napkins and started wiping my face. Quite hard I might say. Her friend comes up and stops her.

"Autumn, you're hurting him." Autumn, according to her friend, stops rubbing and looks at me. "Oh my gosh!" she says, "I'm so sorry!"

I get up and the girls take a few steps back. Probably to dodge the mixture of Sprite and water.

"It's okay," I say. "I'm just gonna..." I point towards the restroom and start to take a step when I slip and fall on my back. Autumn looks down at me; her face panicked and I look up at her. She offers me a small, adorable smile and I can't help but break into laughter.

1. Chapter 1

Autumn's POV

"There were only 39 questions! Do you know how hard that is?" Jo whines as we walk towards the cafeteria.

"Yes Jo," I laugh, "I took the exam too. In fact, I was sitting right next to you."

"Whatever," she says rolling her eyes.

"Oh Jo..." I laugh, "I don't know what I'd do without you."

As we walk towards the cafe, we stop by the bulletin board to check our scores. I find Rayne, my last name, and drag my name to the number beside it.

"I got a 90!" I exclaim, "What did you get?"

I look over at Jo and she's staring blankly at her score.

"Hello?" I wave my hand over her face but she doesn't even blink.

I look for Taylor and slide me finger over.

"You got an 87!" I laugh, relieved it wasn't as terrible as she was leading on.

She breaks into a smile, "I didn't fail!"

I sidestep away from her.

"I DIDN'T FAIL!" she yells and I grab her arm.

"I think we should go," I smile, laughing at her. People were starting to stare. I glance back at the bulletin board to see who scored the highest and my Jaw drops.

"Tomlinson. 100." Jo reads, "Payne. 95."

"Payne as in Liam Payne? The quarterback?" I choke out.

"No," she says sarcastically, "Bob Payne from history class."

"We don't know a Bo-" I start, "Oh... How can someone be so smart and hot at the same time?"

"Guess he got lucky," she replies. We continued our conversation as we both went to get our lunch. We headed to the only empty table that happened to be between the rich girls and the preppy cheerleaders. I couldn't help but overhear Maisie Walker, the cheer captain, talk about the game last night.

"Did you watch the game last night?" she asks in her amazingly annoying voice, "Li scored a touchdown right before the game finished. Aren't you guys jealous? I have the best boyfriend ever." I roll my eyes.

"Who the heck is Li?" I whisper to Jo but she wasn't listening. She was eavesdropping on the rich girls. Probably listening about the latest frat party. She was about to fall out of her seat trying to listen when Kelly sat down with her 1-2-3-4-5 other friends.

"Oh hey girls!" Jo said, snapping out of her daze, "Apparently frat boy had another party and bad boy Zayn was caught with some chick."

"Who?" Kelly questioned, setting down her tray.

"I don't know. I didn't hear." Jo shrugs, "Anyway, what's up?"

As they chat, I get up to refill my glass of Sprite. When I walk back, Maisie trips me and I spill my drink on Niall, the hot frat boy.
