36. What You Get Him for Christmas
Ponyboy: A red scarf and a collection of Robert Frost poems. The scarf took you two weeks to knit and another week looking for the poem book. But seeing the look on Pony's face was worth all the trouble you went through.
Sodapop: A pair of shoes and a gallon of soda. You felt the soda would be a good joke to lighten up the air. And one day while visiting him you noticed how raggedy his shoes looked. And leave it to a girl to buy shoes!
Darry: A baseball cap and bucket of cookies. You saw the cap in the clearance bin of clothing store and thought about how sunburn Darry gets in the summer. And in that bucket a combination of chocolate and sugar cookies.
Johnny: You wrote a song for him! With the help of your father who owned a recording company, you sung a beautiful song for him and recorded it. When you played it, he couldn't keep himself from crying. It was the greatest gift ever!
Dally: An old jewelry box full of things from your relationship. Don't worry the box was pink and full of pink feathers. It had the receipt from the Dingo where your first date took place. It was filled to the brim with memories.
Steve: A book full of cars and a pen that had his name on it. Cars were his passion next to you. The book had over five hundred pictures of every car that ever existed. And he could use the pen everyday at work.
Two-Bit: Another Mickey Mouse shirt and a volume of Disney comic books. He was your Mickey Mouse and no matter how weird he may act, he was yours to keep. Mickey will be his best man at your wedding!
