Penelope Jackson: Daughter of the Sea -The Beginning

Penelope Jackson knew she was different even before her parents dropped her off at some camp for the summer. But she never expected to be a second generation of demi-god. Now an evil is coming, something Penelope never thought could be possible. With her new friends Penelope must restore her father's reputation, by defeating the Unknown.

6. This is a pen. How is this useful?

Over the next few weeks I learned and trained as much as I possibly could. I did everything to inform myself on what it meant to be a demi-god and how to protect myself and others. I grew stronger, and I wasn't a string bean anymore, I was toned and quick, I learned to control water, my power, and let it heal me. Brynna helped me when it came to organization and flirtation. Her charmspeak gift was useful when she forgot to clean her bunk, and got out of dish duty. However, I wasn't as lucky.

I learned as much as I could possibly store in my brain, and every test Chrion or Grover gave me I passed with flying colors. When training in the arena I learned to balance myself and land better on my feet instead of my butt of my face. Soon only Konnor beat me at hand-to-hand combat, but he was pretty winded afterwards. Brynna taught me archery again, and how to use tactics in battle. She was a skilled leader, and used mind over matter, a bit better that the Athena kids in my opinion. I also met my friend Marci Greene of the Iris cabin, this girl was always sunshine and well, rainbows, but boy did she know how to handle a spear. She was usually the girl I hung out with when Brynna was too busy with Mr. Finn Marks  of the Apollo cabin. He was exceptionally gorgeous with his blonde locks chiseled features and chocolate brown eyes. But he was a little too full of himself for my taste.

Back to the weapons and stuff, Konnor and Marci took me to the forge where the Hephaestus kids made all the campers weapons and armor. A tan boy with greased hair came to assist us. His name was Alec, he and his sister Claudia worked the magic when it came to sword making. With his brute force and her keen eyes, it was a perfect team. He shaped my blade, while she took my measurements then had me hold various weights to see which was most comfortable and easy for me to handle. Instead of the regular fire they used to forge, Alec made mine with Greek fire, very hot and very green. When the blade was cooling, I noticed it had a slight blue green tint, very me. After a few days and last minute measurements I had a sword. But Claudia had a few tricks up her work belt. When she first handed me the sword, it wasn't a sword. It was actually a pen. It literally looked like a blue pen you could find in and store. I thought she was joking when she shooed me out of the forge with Konnor laughing at my reaction. He took me to the arena the uncapped my pen. The blade shot out and took full length. It was stunning and perfectly made.

Claudia  caught up with me later that day and explained that, Chiron had asked her to make the sword the same way my dad's was made. Collapsible I guess you could say. After she'd left I stated thing about my dad, and my family and then I cried. I'm not a big crier but knowing that my family needs me made me feel all emotional and crazy.

Anyways as the summer moved on and July came into view I started to wonder about the prophecy I was supposed to fulfill. I wondered also what my family was doing, and if I would ever see them again. That question was soon answered one night during a bonfire.
