It turns out that loud crash was my Uncle Tyson running after Mrs. O'Leary. Apparently she'd found a new chew toy, his "Warrior Stick" and he crashed into one of the flag towers causing the wood to splinter and fall. I went to my cabin and did what I normally did when I was mad. Went on a rant, (which I will not bore you with so moving on). Brynna and Marci stayed with me and sat on the floor while I talked to myself. After cooling off and going over the conversation I had with my grandfather, I rallied up my friends to see how quests work, and also who would go with me. I went with the girls to the remains of the bonfire where Konnor, his cousin Jack (child of Demeter), and their friend Molli( daughter of Ares) and a few other campers were still there.
Brynna explained the requirements of quests and also dangers of it. Monsters were everywhere, even the normal-est of people could be secret monsters. Jack said quests were no easy tasks and that some demi-gods never came back. So needless to say my options weren't turning to my favor. Konnor volunteered to be one of my companions on my quest. Marci decided she should stay behind and give us regular updates on camp and help us in case we were short on information. This girl was a living encyclopedia on anything from Greek history to modern day technology. Brynna was my other companion. Her dad had been a praetor at the Roman camp, so she knew where we were going, she also had a long lost love she was secretly wanting to reconnect with. Naturally. It was decided the three of us would leave the day after tomorrow, I wanted to do a quick brush up on all my learning and training, before we faced the Unknowns.
The next morning, I woke up bright and early and went to the arena. I practiced all my sword fighting, wrestling, and my skill at archery. I wouldn't touch the knives though. After three hours of practice, Brynna made me come in for breakfast. I wasn't particularly hungry, but I took a few bites of pancake, and drained my hot chocolate mug. Even though it was summer the hot chocolate felt cool going down my throat. After breakfast Konnor went with me to my lessons with Grover then we battled with Molli and Jack outside of the woods.
In the afternoon, Marci and Tyson took my to see his wife, Ella, a harpie? Yeah she looked like a human with red hair from the head, then she moved around the pile of books, or better she flew around a pile of books and revealed her red wings and vulture like body. She was really smart and informed me about the Roman demi-gods. Their camp was located in California, and there was a few obstacles to go before we actually made it to the camp. Ella and Marci also taught me how to send an Iris message. You get a bowl of water, a light and a prism to make a rainbow toss a drachma (Greek coin) and send your message. I wanted to send one to my dad, but thought it was wise not to. Whoever was against my dad might intercept the call. I sent the message to the Roman Demi-god camp, and a girl with crazy brown hair answered. I asked her to deliver the message and she agreed as long as I assured her I was actually friend not foe.
Around sunset I was tired, hungry and scared out of my mind. Marci took the liberty of packing my backpack with nectar, ambrosia, a book, and a map and compass. I didn't know what the book was for but I figured if I got bored I could read. I didn't stay up too late with the others, because as soon as I placed my head on my pillow I was out like a light. I also realized this was the first time I'd gone to bed without dinner which I thought was the cause of what happened next.
