After school finished, finally, I realized that I had forgotten my earbuds in my locker. I tell my friends that I will catch up to them soon.
I went upstairs and got to my locker. I put the combination in and opened it. I found my earbuds, closed my locker and walked away. As I was walking down the narrow steps, I felt dizziness taking over my body like a robot. I fell down the steep steps and landed on the second floor staircase platform. There, I lay, not moving at all. I could feel my heartbeat slowing down and my breathe getting lighter and lighter as I lay there in silence.
"Where could she be?" I wondered. 'Did she go back to her house? To her brother? Maybe she missed him. No, that can't be. I mean, she probably does miss him, but I don't think that she would just leave without any notice first. If she wanted to leave, fine, but why didn't she just tell us. We would have been sad, but we would've accepted. I just hope she comes back.' I thought to myself.
"I don't know. Maybe she was upset about something at school, so she wanted some time alone or something. I don't think she ran away. Where is she?" Louis suggested. As we were thinking, we heard a knock at our door. It was the police. I answered the door and greeted them.
"Hello, may we come in for just a moment?" They asked me.
"Yes, sir. What's the matter?" Liam asked.
"Well here is the story, boys. We got a call from a woman that works at the school and she told us that she found a girl by the stairs, lying there, unconscious. The teacher, luckily, knew her as Gabriel Hayden. We also ran into three girls waiting in the front of the school for their friend, Gabriel. Now, at this point, all we know clearly is that she fell from the top of the staircase and tumbled onto the 7th grade staircase platform. We don't know why or how, right now. The way we found you is because her friends saw you boys with her this morning and described them all as you. I told them that I knew you all and would get to them. Why was she dropped off by you guys at school this morning, instead of her LEGAL guardian, which is her brother. Why is she with you, instead of her brother!" He was pissed and upset at us. How does he think we feel right now. "She is in the hospital, with her brother, and we don't know if she is going to wake up or not. Now, I'm not saying that any of the falling thing was your fault, but, she should have been with her brother before, than with you. Now, you do understand that if you go to the hospital and see her right now, that brother of hers is going to flip out on all of you and start a ruckus? So, if I were you, I would NOT go. But, if you really care that much, then go." We all nodded our heads. I was tearing up, but I wasn't going to cry in front of the boys and especially not the officer.
"We understand, sir. But, I'm sorry, I am still going to see her. Whether he starts a fight or not, we are going to be with her every step of the way." I told him straight forward and headed outside to the car.
We got changed out of PJ's and put some real clothes on. We all just put white, black, or gray T-shirts on and some jean pants with converse sneakers.
Then, we headed to the hospital.
