I entered my fear landscape, and the door quietly made a hissing noise as it shut. I looked behind me to find that nothing was there. Nothing was there to protect me. Nobody was there to save me from my fears.
“It’s ok. You’ll live. Go save yourself!” Jeremy cried. “You’ll live, and thats all that matters, right? I just want you to survive! So go ahead! Go run ahead of me, and if I’m lucky, I will try and hop along with you!” At this point, tears were blurring my vision. “Jeremy! You can’t do this to me! You can’t die on me and I definitely can’t leave you! I love you! Please! You’re the only person that has ever, really loved me.” I sobbed.
“I love you too, but you must leave me. I love you enough to save you, so I am begging you! I don’t want to see you die! Leave!” Jeremy screamed, blood trickling down his arm. I ran over, leaned in for a kiss, and ran. My heart shattered as I left him. Like a mirror. Never being able to put back the pieces. I wiped my eyes with my coat and kept on running.
“Jeremy? Where are you?” I yelled at the top of my lungs. I was now in a dark room with black walls. “I’m right next to you, you idiot!” Jeremy replied, playfully hitting my shoulder. I started to laugh, realizing that I wasn’t going to lose him. That I wasn’t going to lose the only person in my life that loves me. My emotions changed quickly and I started to cry and laugh, as I kissed him. My hand found its way to his soft, dirty blonde hair. I carefully twisted my fingers through it. His lips were locked onto mine until I he let go to a weird noise. “What’s that noise?” Jeremy asked, probably knowing that I didn’t know the answer. I walked towards the wall and I realized that the walls were moving closer and closer. We were going to be trapped. We were going to be squished between these two walls. “At least I get to die with you this time…” I muttered. “C’mon Addie! Follow me!” Jeremy started to run like a cheetah, and I struggled to follow. I tripped over a rock and fell face first. My forehead was bleeding, and sharp pains were running through my skull. “Jeremy! Wait for me!” I yelled. I started to become dizzy. The world was spinning around me. I felt two arms wrapping around my knees and my back. Suddenly, the pains stopped.
I found myself on a bus. The next stop was my street, so I decided that it might be a good idea to get off. I knocked on the door and there were my two parents, on the couch with my brother. “Mom? Dad? Jonathan? Why aren’t you at the choosing ceremony?” I asked, trying to be as calm as I could.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name. Who are you? Are you lost?” My mother asked, her eyes looking dull. I looked at my own mother, and started to cry.
“You’re my mother! And I’m your daughter! Adalyn Donin! Don’t you remember me?” My mother looked at me as if I was an unsolved puzzle. “I’m sorry darling. I’m not sure who you are. Would you like me to call your parents?” She asked again.
“No, thats fine. If you choose not to remember me, then I don’t know if you really are my family!” I cried. I ran into the streets until I found Chrissy’s house. By this time, my boots were caked with mud and my beige skirt was a chocolate brown. I knocked softly, and the door swung open. “Addie? What are you doing here? It’s almost time for the choosing ceremony!” Chrissy said.
I opened my eyes. “What’s happening? Jeremy? Mom? Dad? Jonathan? Chrissy?” I whispered. I searched for a door and slid it open. The bright, natural light blinded me. Everyone looked at me as I left. I ran down the corridor to find Jeremy in his dorm. He was sitting in bed, bare from the waist up. His tattoos were clearly visible and he looked at me. “How was it?” He asked. “It was alright, I guess.” I started to cry and I lied down next to him on his bed. He wrapped his arms around me and quietly whispered. I’m not sure what he was saying, but I liked it. I kissed his cheek, then my lips found its way to his. I wrapped my arms around his and felt his back, and then to his shoulders, which were covered in tattoos. My hand gently touched each tattoo. I wished that I could stay there forever. In the arms of my one love.
