5. The Fountain Of Talents
He opened the door and held it open so i could walk through, and at first i only watched him, but then i looked ahead and saw this beautiful courtyard with flowers everywhere and a cherry blossom tree and in the center was a gorgeous white marble fountain with engravings. He walked me over under the tree and began to talk. "Those engravings, they are the signiture pictures from every "golden" artist that has attended this camp. You have to be really good though. I wish i was that good. I could, well.... i dont know, i guess you could say "leave my mark" ". And he was right, it was like leaving a legacy for future generations to see and be inspired by.
His friends came walking our way and one of them saw us sitting next to each other and whistled at me. I just decided i wasnt going to deal with their foolishness. "Whoa, guys be polite! This may be our next golden artist!" He said.
Then his friend laughed and said, "Ya i think you're right Danny, she'll be our next model for one of those pictures!"
So now i knew his name, Danny. A cute name in my book. But i sat down at the fountain and Danny's friends teased some more and he finally told them to knock it off, so they went inside.
"I'm so sorry, they can be real jerks some times. I just think Matt is mad because he wanted to be a golden artist last year, but they denied him. He just doesnt want to face the facts."
I said simply, "Thanks Danny". He looked up and smiled. My hand was skimming the water as he spoke. I rested it on the ledge i was sitting on. He reached over and his warm hand touched mine. I hoped at that moment i could carve this second into this fountian at the end of fall. I just smiled, and looked into his eyes. His warm flesh against mine felt comforting, and being with a boy like this for the first time felt like it was all meant to be. It just felt right.
