"I won't let him hurt you," Justin kept saying in my ear as I cried into his chest. Why was he being so nice to a complete stranger. He is a really sweet guy, but now Tyler is going to kill me.. and worse, him.
I'm stronger than this. I never cry at little things and I don't want him to think I always act like a baby, so I pushed him away gently. "I'm okay," I said wiping my eyes. I turned to walk away when Justin grabbed my arm softly.
"Wait," he said. "I was, uhm, thinking, you know if you don't mind, maybe we could, uh, maybe hangout sometime while I'm in town."
"Are you seriously asking me if I want to hang out with THE Justin Bieber? Of course!" I smiled. "How can I get a hold of you?"
"Here," he handed me his iPhone. I handed mine to him, so he could put his number in. He smiled and gave it back to me. "See ya later, Brooklyn."
"Bye," I smiled. I tucked my hair behind my ear and turned around. I could feel his eyes on me as I walked away.
"One more thing," he called running up behind me.
"Do you need a ride home?" He smiled.
"No, I live right down the street; I'll be fine walking. It's only about five minutes and the cool air feels good," I smiled reassuringly. I waved bye and walked down the street by myself.
I knew Ty would be at my house waiting for me. I waked home slowly, taking everything in.
I wasn't ready to see Tyler yet. He has hit me before, but only when he was drunk. It was never in front of people, so he must have been really mad. I opened the door quietly to my apartment, trying not to make too much noise. I could see a dark figure sitting on the chair a few feet in front of me. Great.
"Hey babe," I tried to act normal.
"Don't 'hey babe' me. Where have you been? Why didn't you come home after leaving the party?" He screamed at me.
"I wasn't ready to come home yet, so I went to the park and then walked here."
"What boy were you with this time, slut?" His words stung.
"No one, I was by myself."
"Don't fucking lie to me, Brook. I swear, I'll beat the living shit out of you," his words slurred. I backed away, getting as close as possible to the door. He stumbled over to me and grabbed my wrist tightly. "Answer me."
"I said, I was with no one," I said confidently. His hand came into contact with my face. I let out a slight gasp.
"Now tell me again who you were with."
"I was with Justin. Nothing happened, I swear. We were just talking," I whimpered. He pushed me to the floor and walked out. I put my hand over the spot that stung from the hit.
"Don't ever lie to me again, bitch."
I cried myself to sleep on the floor, not bothering to go to my bed.
I woke up the next morning with a headache. I found my way into the bathroom to get some aspirin then, decided to take a shower to wake up a little more.
When I got out, I checked my phone to see I had three new messages from Justin.
Last night, I decided to text Brooklyn to make sure she had gotten home okay. She didn't reply, so I texted her again telling her that I figured she was okay and just sleeping. Then, I left her alone, figuring it was too early to ask to hangout, even though I really want to. This morning I texted her that I was worried about her last night.
It is now one and we are rehearsing for the concerts coming up. I heard my phone go off. "Good job guys. Take five!" I said running over to my phone. I had a text from Brooklyn. It read, 'Hey, Sorry if I'm bothering you. I got home safely last night, I just went to sleep early. Sorry for making you worry.'
I smiled and replied, 'You don't have to keep apologizing, it's okay. Wanna go out for ice cream when I'm done rehearsing?'
I threw my phone onto my bag and walked over to Scooter. "Dude, when are auditions for the opening act?"
"This Wednesday, three days.. I hope people show up," Scooter replied looking worried.
"As long as the flyers said 'Justin Bieber will be at the auditions', everyone will show up," I said cockily. Scooter just laughed. I walked back over to my bags and picked up my phone again. Another message popped up. 'Yes, I would love to. What time?'
'Uhh, give me an hour and then meet me at the ice cream shop downtown.'
I finished rehearsals with a smile on my face. "Great job everybody! That's it for the day!" I ran to get my stuff and then to the limo that was waiting for me. There were girls screaming everywhere. I was going back to the hotel to get cleaned up.
Once I was ready, I sneaked out the back doors with a disguise on. I made it unnoticed and walked to the ice cream place casually. Luckily no one noticed me there either.
"Hey," Brooklyn said walking up to me. She had a small bruise on her face from when that bastard hit her.
I smiled. "How'd you know it was me?"
"I can just tell. You're trying to hide from everyone. Who else does that?"
"True, true. Let's get some ice cream," I laughed.
When we were finished, we decided to walk around downtown and go into different little shops.
It was about four now. Wow, the time flew by. "I have a great idea," Brooklyn smiled.
"And what's that?"
"We should go to that little diner over there. It's really great; my dad used to take me when I was little. They have a karaoke machine. It's a cute place."
"People might notice me," I trailed off.
"No, it's usually old people or adults in there. It's not exactly popular."
"Okay, let's go then," I smiled and walked across the street. Brooklyn jogged to catch up to me. I looked over at her and she smiled slightly.
Once we were inside, I could tell she wasn't exaggerating; there was absolutely no kids in here. Good, now we can spend time together without having to hide.
"Come on," she smiled. We sat at a in a booth and shortly after, our food came out. There wasn't an awkward moment the entire time. It was like I've known her forever.
"Justin," she said softly.
"Thank you for today. I had a lot of fun. It's cool to actually see who you are, not just THE Justin Bieber."
"Well, thanks," I smiled. "I had fun too. It's weird, I feel like I've known you forever and I don't want to leave in a couple weeks." Her face feel a bit. "Come on," I pulled her up and walked towards the stage.
"What are you doing?"
"We are going to sing together," I grinned wide.
"No, I'll embarrass myself. I am not a good singer at all."
"Just try, it's not like anyone knows you here." I went over to the book of songs and picked out one to sing with her. I picked 'Girlfriend' by Avril Lavigne because I knew she would know the words. I wonder if the owner thought this diner would be more in the teen category, considering all the songs were in that genre. It looked like no one would be able to get up here anyway.
The music started and I smiled at her. She laughed in response, shaking her head. I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable and make her sing a whole part by herself, so we sang together. I kept doing dancing wildly causing her to laugh. I paused for a minute and she kept singing. Her voice was angelic, seriously perfect. I was speechless. All the old people were clapping and hollering at us. They looked very happy to see kids having this much fun. She finished the song and I just stayed there, staring at her. Everyone clapped and we bowed.
"Thank you, thank you," she laughed. We walked down the steps and I still had the same expression on my face.
"That was amazing. I thought you said you couldn't sing. You showed me up out there. I'm jealous," I fake pouted.
"Oh whatever, you know that's not true. But thanks," she smiled. "Coming from you, that's a huge compliment." Good, finally a girl who can take a compliment.
"Are you actually Justin Bieber? My daughter is in love with you!" One of the waitresses came over to us.
"Yeah, I'm him," I smiled.
"Can you sign this?" She asked, handing me a piece of paper.
"What's her name?"
"Jessica," I could see her beaming out of the corner of my eye. I wrote a cute note for her and signed it at the bottom. "Thank you so much!"
"Hey, no problem," I smiled as she hurried off. "Okay, let's go," I smiled at Brooklyn. We walked to her apartment. I needed to convince her to come to the auditions.
When we got to her apartment door, she hugged me and I decided to slip a flyer into her coat pocket, hoping that would work. "Bye Justin," she said.
"Looks like this is the last time we'll ever see each other," I sighed, trying to sound upset. I know she'll go to the auditions.
"I guess. Good luck on tour." I nodded my head.
She opened her door and slipped in. "Bye Brooklyn."
I walked back to my hotel, taking the back roads so no one saw me. I opened my door and saw Ryan and Chaz playing a video game in the living room. I dropped onto the couch and grabbed a controller.
Did Justin want me to go to his auditions? Is that why he put the flyer in my pocket? I couldn't think of a better reason as to why he would. Why would he want me to be his opening act? He did say I was good the other night, but was I ready?
What's the worst that can happen? I'll never see him again if I don't get it. If I do make it, I get to leave Atlanta and travel the world for free, finally leave Tyler, and meet a lot of people. What if his fans don't like me and I'm not good enough to preform at a Justin Bieber concert? Well, that's what they'll decide at the auditions.
I get dressed and walk out the door, finally deciding to go. I take the bus to avoid getting angered in traffic. I put in my headphones to calm myself down.
I haven't even thought of what I was going to sing. Maybe I should sing one of his songs or would that seem to needy? If I did, they wouldn't pick me because I wouldn't sing it as good as Justin does. I could sing 'Girlfriend' like last night, but that might seem like I want him. What to sing, what to sing? I looked through all of my songs on my phone to help. I finally decided on one.
Today is the big day and I really hope Brooklyn shows up. That's all I thought about last night and this morning, her singing.
Scooter woke me up early this morning saying, "Kid, we have to get to the theater early today. People are already lined up outside. Let's go."
We are currently sitting in the big room, listening to a bunch of people sing. Some have talent, but others are the exact opposite. Some girls are freaking out about meeting me and then, being taken away by my security. Right now, we have down about four girls and three boys that we may call later because they have potential.
We have been here for about three hours and no one has really stood out over everyone; no one that is a definite yes.
Scooter allowed Fredo, Ryan, and Chaz to come along with us as judges, so at least I have people to talk to when I get bored. He also told my mom to come, knowing she would keep us under control. She kept giving us stern looks when we were messing around or on our phones, not paying attention.
"There are too many people. My ears are going to bleed if I have to hear one more person sing. Too much singing!" Ryan yelled. There were no performers in the room at the time, so we were all messing around.
"Fredo, I think we should try out and become the opening performers. Scoot, would you accept us if we were good enough?" Chaz asked. Fredo nodded, agreeing with him.
"Trust me, you would never be our first choice," my mom joked. Chaz gasped, acting shocked. He waved his hand towards Fredo and they went onto the floor.
"And now ladies and gentleman, well and Ryan," Chaz joked. I looked at Ryan and laughed. "Now introducing 'Cheesy Alfredo' haha, get it?" Chaz laughed at his own joke. They both started dancing and singing to 'Favorite girl'. Ryan and I were cracking up, while recording them. Scooter and my mom were shaking their heads, but still chuckling. They were having a dance off when I stood up and danced with them, showing them up.
Just then, the door opened and someone walked in. We didn't bother stopping, not thinking it was one of the people auditioning. I spun around and stopped immediately when I saw who it was.
"Oh my god," is all I could manage to get out. She looked stunning.
"You came," I said happily walking over to her.
"Well, I figured you wanted me to since you put the flyer in my pocket," she smiled. "That is what you wanted, right? I'm not just making a fool of myself for being here, am I?"
"No, no, not at all. That's exactly what I wanted," I smiled reassuringly at her.
"Great, do I look okay? Am I too dressed up?" She asked worriedly looking herself up and down.
"No, you look perfect. Everyone's been dressing up. You look beautiful," I stuttered out. She blushed.
"JB, dude, what are you doing? Let's go," Scooter called across the room.
"Sorry, I was just apologizing for what she walked in on," I said walking back over to the table.
"So you don't know her?" He asked me skeptically.
"No, I have never met her a day in my life." Brooklyn looked hurt by my words.
"Okay, sweetheart, your name?" My mom asked.
"Brooklyn Stevens," she said confidently.
"Okay, Brooklyn, you can start whenever you're ready," Scooter said.
She started and it felt as if the whole world stopped and was listening to her sing.
"I know I can't take one more step towards you. 'Cause all that's waiting is regret. Don't you know I'm not your ghost anymore? You lost the love I loved the most.
"I learned to live half alive and now you want me one more time."
Everyone's eyes were wide. She was by far the best already. I know she'll be the one, I knew since the other night that she would blow everyone away. She's going to be the opening act for this concert, and I knew I could talk Scoot into letting her be the opening act the whole tour. Even if we find another performer, she can still be one.
"And who do you think you are? Runnin' 'round leaving scars, collecting your jar of hearts and tearing love apart. You're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul, so don't come back for me. Who do you think you are?
"I hear you're asking all around if I am anywhere to be found, but I have grown too strong to ever fall back in your arms.
"And I've learned to live half alive and now you want me one more time.
"And who do you think you are? Runnin' 'round leaving scars, collecting your jar of hearts and tearing love apart. You're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul, so don't come back for me. Who do you think you are?"
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in, suddenly wishing we let the contestants sing the whole song so I could listen to her angelic voice longer. She hadn't made eye contact with me at all during the song.
Everyone applauded and she smiled big. "Thank you, Miss Stevens. That was fantastic. You wouldn't mind if we got your number do you?"
"Oh no, I don't mind at all," she smiled and walked over to the table to write her number down. She still hadn't even looked at me once.
"Thanks, again Miss Stevens. We'll keep in touch. Have a great day," Scooter smiled as she turned towards the door.
"Thank you," she said, looking back over her shoulder one last time. Everyone was smiling.
"I have to pee, guys. I'll be right back. Don't discuss anything without me," I said as I ran to the door.
I looked around for Brooklyn and finally spotted her picking up her things to leave. "Hey Brooklyn," I said jogging up to her. "That was great. You did amazing."
She rolled her eyes and pushed past me. "Okay? What was that about?" I asked jogging again to catch up with her. She turned to face me abruptly.
"Oh, so now you know me? Really Justin? I thought you were better than that. You just know me when no one else is around right? Don't bother calling me," she turned on her heels. I grabbed her wrist and turned her around again.
"Stop it, don't be all bitchy when you don't know the whole story," I spat. I didn't mean for it to sound as mean as it did. She looked ever more pissed than before. I sighed, "Let me explain."
She rolled her eyes, pulling her wrist out of my grip and crossing her arms.
"Okay, well if I would've told them that I knew you, they wouldn't pick you. Scooter thinks it's bias because I'll always pick my friends and then the show would suck because they suck. I just wanted to give you the fair opportunity because I knew you could do it. I also knew they would love you, I mean how could they not? That's it, okay? I knew you were mad because you didn't look at me at all. I still think you did awesome and you should expect Scooter to be calling you within the next couple of days. Don't let my stupidity get in the way of you traveling the world," I let a sigh and turned around to walk away, knowing she wouldn't believe me because she's hardheaded.
I heard her let out a sigh. "I'm sorry, Justin. I shouldn't assume things like that. Thank you for thinking about me," I turned around to see her smiling. I half smiled at her and nodded my head. She left and I went back into the room to hear more people sing even though they would never be as good as Brooklyn.
"Ugh," Chaz sighed as we sat back in our seats.
"So dude, it really looked like you knew that hot chick Brooklyn," Ryan smirked and raised his eyebrows.
"You bastards were listening to our conversation, weren't you?" I whispered as the girl was singing.
"Yes," Fredo said while Ryan shook his head. I punched all three of them.
"Just don't tell mom or Scoot, they won't like her anymore and you all know she's the best one here. She has to be the opening act," they all nodded in agreement.
My mom eyeballed us, so we stopped talking and watched this girl with an annoying high pitched voice dance because that's all she was good at.
I can't wait until this day's over. I'm so done with listening to other people sing; all I want is her to sing.

Hello people! :) I hope you liked this chapter! Sorry I took so long updating, I was busy all week. Also, sorry if there are typos, I'm too lazy to go back and read it through again. This chapter was extra long for you guys! Yay! The part of the song she sang was 'Jar of Hearts' by Cristina Perri. If you haven't heard it, go listen to it.. It's great! Anyway, remember to like, favorite, and comment. It really helps! Thanks!
p.s. just for anyone who didn't know this; I just learned it writing this chapter... 'snuck' is not the correct word, 'sneaked' is the correct past tense for 'sneak'. I seriously had no clue; I've always said 'snuck'. You learn something new everyday, haha. That's all. bye guys! :)
