I rolled over onto my side and opened my eyes. Liam laid next to me still fast asleep. He made a small humming noise as he breathed in and out slowly. He was so cute when he was asleep. I slowly stood up, careful not to wake him, and walked into the kitchen. Loki trailed behind me and wagged his tail asking for food. I smiled down at him and pulled out his dog food and filled up his bowel and then went to making mine and Liam's breakfast. When the pancakes were done I placed them on a plate and left them on the counter and walked into back into my room where Liam still hadn't moved. I laid down next to him and slowly kissed him. He moaned a bit then kissed back.
"I like waking up like this," Liam whispered in my ear. I smiled and kissed him again before standing up.
"Me too," I smiled. "I made breakfast," I said as Liam stood up and followed me into the kitchen. We looked over at the counter only to see Loki up on the bar stools licking the plates the pancakes had been on. "Loki!" I yelled but then started laughing. Liam laughed along with me and Loki came prancing up to us like he did something good. "That was our food you silly dog," I said as I bent down and patted his head.
"Well we can go out for breakfast," Liam said. "Let me just get dressed," he said as he walked back into our room.
A few minutes later we were both dressed and ready to go out. Liam clipped Loki on his leash and he bounded towards the door. I pressed my fingers to the family picture as we left. We walked down the street holding hands and eventually stopped at the cafe where we first met. We ordered and sat staring out over the river. Our food came and we ate, and occasionally threw some food down for Loki, even though he had probably had enough to eat this morning. When Liam was done his phone started ringing. I sighed.
"I can't get a day off," he said as he pulled out his phone. "Hey Andy, what now?" Liam asked. "Yeah I'll be there in a few minutes," he said as he put his phone back in his pocket. "I have to go, captain duties," he said as he stood up and handed me Loki's leash and then leaned down to kiss me. "I'll see you tonight, and we can go see a movie or something," he said right before a ran down the road to the fire station.
"Well looks like its just you and me buddy," I said as I looked down at Loki.
He turned his head to the side and started wagging his tail like he was going to get the rest of my food. I only laughed and continued to eat. When I was done I paid the bill and walked down the street. We walked past the fire station, but no one was there. I turned down a road that went along the other side of the river. I watched as people went down the river in little boats. I always thought that was romantic. I sat down to watch the people more and Loki jumped up and sat next to me. Then my phone started ringing. I pulled it out of my leather jacket and saw an unknown number.
"Hello?" I answered.
"You always said you'd take me down the river in a boat," someone said on the other line. He sounded familiar. "You never did, you owe me," he said. Then I remembered where I had heard that voice. I had heard it just a few days prior after a long time. It was Luke.
"What do you want Luke?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"You know what I want Zaynie, I want you. I want you back," Luke said as he laughed a bit.
"That's not going to happen Luke. I'm happier without you," I said as I began to hang up the phone.
"You don't want to hang up babe," Luke said. I quickly looked around in shock. How could he have known I was going to hang up? No. He didn't. It was just another one of his little mind games.
"I'm done with you Luke," I said. "Now stay out of my life forever," I said sternly before hanging up. I placed my phone back in my jacket and stood up. "Lets go Loki, we need to get out of here," I said as I stated jogging back to my flat with Loki right beside me.
When we got back to the flat, I quickly locked the door and looked out all the windows to make sure Luke wasn't following me. When I was satisfied we were safe I unclipped Loki and started to make my way towards the couch when there was a knock at the door. I spun around and slowly walked towards the door. Loki laid by the counter as if everything was ok, so it must be ok right? I reached out and opened up the door. On the other side was a boy, or rather a man now, who I hadn't seen in a long time. He was my height, dark skin, and long brown hair that hung over his green eyes. Those same green eyes that made me fall in love with him.
It was Luke.
