“Dad, it’s amazing!” I exclaim as he pulls me into a hug. I was home. Finally. It’s nice to finally get away from the awkward tension between Zayn and I. I don’t even know why it’s awkward.
The flat Dad had got me was really nice, it was in the outskirts of London. I just had to buy myself a car or get a taxi everywhere. If I had to I could get the tube or train. The flat was small and simple, it was perfect for me. The only thing I disliked is that there isn’t any carpet.
“I guess I should head home before the traffic gets really bad.” Dad sighs and I nod.
“Have a safe journey home.” I say and follow him to the door. I close the door after him just as my phone buzzes.
Abbie x: Is it alright if I come over tomorrow? I want to see your new flat!
Me: Yeah, I think so. It’s amazing!
Abbie x: Great! I’ll see you around eleven, if it’s okay!
Me: That’s fine!
I lock my phone and slide it into my pocket. I then turn around and start unpacking everything, including my suitcase from the American leg of the tour. After about an hour, everything was unpacked.
My phone rings and I slide it out of my pocket to answer it. “Hello?” I say.
“Leah! Me and Jack are together!” She announces eagerly.
“Wow! How?” I ask.
“Well, he took me on a few dates and he then asked me to be his girlfriend last night!” She informs me.
“That’s brilliant!” I say as I walk into my small kitchen to grab a glass of orange juice.
“Well, I gotta go, I have to phone my mum and tell her! Bye!” Beth squeals and I mutter a bye before she hangs up. I slide my phone into my pocket and take a sip of my drink.
“How was America?” Abbie asks me as soon as she is in my flat.
“It was great,” I reply and I lead Abbie to the living room. We sit down on the sofa.
“I’m thinking of going there on holiday, do you recommend any places? By the way, your flat is gorgeous!” Abbie says.
“New York and LA are pretty cool,” I suggest, “My Dad picked the flat, and the furniture.”
“Are you sure?” She asks and I nod.
“Wow,” She murmurs, she looks around the room for the thousandth time. “What are One Direction like, Di?” She asks me curiously.
“They’re great, really fun to hang around with.” I reply honestly.
“Is it true that you and Zayn went on a date? It was all over Twitter and Facebook.” She questions me. I blush and nod.
“Yeah, it’s true. But once people found out he started avoiding me and said that we shouldn’t go on another date for a while.” I sigh.
“He seems to think that hanging around with you will ruin his reputation or something,” Abbie sighs. “He doesn’t know that he’s missing out on a great girl like you. Maybe you should date someone else.”
“It’s because of his ex-girlfriend. She’s causing trouble.” I defend him and Abbie’s eyes widen.
“Wow,” She murmurs. “Anyway, are you really close with any of the others?” She asks me.
“Niall and I are close; I’m good friends with all of them to be honest. But Niall and I are like best friends.” I admit.
“I hope he isn’t replacing me.” She jokes and I shake my head.
“You’ve been my friend for years, no one could replace you.” I say and at that exact moment the doorbell rings. “I’m gonna answer that, be right back.”
I stand up from the sofa and walk to the front door. I open it quickly to find that Zayn, surprisingly, is standing there.
“Hi,” I say.
“Hi, I just wanted to come over and chat,” He explains.
“My best friend is round,” I snap a little too harshly. I couldn’t help but feel a little pissed at him.
“Oh,” He murmurs. “I’ll come back later.”
“Diana! Who is it?!” Abbie screams from the living room and my heart stops. I could feel the colour drain from my face. Zayn’s eyes narrow into thin slits at the sound of the name then he looked like something had clicked in his head.
“Diana?” He gasps.
“That’s the name of her sister, she sometimes calls me that.” I say a little too quickly.
“I know you’re lying.” Zayn accuses.
“Oh shit.” Abbie curses from behind me. I don’t think she cursed because one out of five of One Direction is standing at my front door, I think she cursed because she realised she called me Diana when the whole of One Direction, except Niall of course, knew me as Leah.
“You’ve been lying to me this whole time.” Zayn hisses at me. My heart was pounding so loudly in my chest I was surprised that I caught his words. “You knew that it was you that I met, you knew all along.” And with that, he was gone. The sound of the front door slamming fills the eerie silence that Zayn had left behind.
“I’m so sorry!” Abbie apologises and pulls me into a hug. I realise then that tears were rolling quickly down my cheeks. “I didn’t realise it was Zayn! If I knew I would have called you Leah!”
“It’s fine, I understand.” I sob.
