Zayn places his hand in mine and squeezes it lightly as we walk inside the restaurant. No one had spotted us, yet. I’m dreading the time when paparazzi ruin the date.
“Table for two, please,” He asks as soon as someone welcomes us.
“Follow me,” The waiter instructs and we follow him to the back of the restaurant. The restaurant was lacking people, either Zayn chose the right time to come here or it isn’t popular. I hope we came at the right time, if this restaurant isn’t popular it could mean that the food is crap.
Zayn pulls my chair out for me and I sit down. He sits down in the seat opposite me and slides his jacket off. The waiter comes back, this time with two menus. He hands us the menus and pulls out a notepad and pen.
“Drinks?” I turn to Zayn and he nods at me, signalling for me to order first.
“A coke, please.” I say and the waiter nods and writes it down on his notepad. He then looks at Zayn, his grey eyes turning cold.
“A coke, please,” Zayn asks and the waiter writes it down before walking away. “We go back soon,” He states.
“Yeah, just over one week left.” I reply. It’s surprising how quick this tour has gone. In a way, I’m excited to go back home. It will be nice to have my own place and be independent for the first time in my life.
“Do you know if you definitely have a place yet?” He asks me and I shrug. At that moment, the waiter is back and he places our drinks in front of us.
“Are you ready to order?” He asks and Zayn looks at me. I nod.
“Can I have macaroni cheese please?” I say and I bite my lip to stop myself from giggling at the fact that it rhymed. The waiter writes it down and then turns to look at Zayn.
“Roast beef please,” Zayn says and the waiter writes down his order before sauntering off to the kitchen. I finally let out the giggle I was keeping in. “What’s so funny?” Zayn questions me which only causes me to laugh even more.
“Wh-at I said rhymed.” I choke out between giggles and cover my mouth up with my hand. Zayn shakes his head and chuckles.
“You are strange.” He comments.
“Tell me something I don’t know.”
“This park is really nice.” I comment and Zayn squeezes my hand. “Thank you for tonight,”
“It’s no problem,” Zayn replies and I look up at him as we walk. He gives me a warm smile which causes butterflies to dance in my stomach.
Suddenly, a flash illuminates the gloomy park and my head snaps to the side to see someone holding a camera. Paparazzi. Shit.
“Run!” Zayn hisses in my ear and we take off running.
When we’re back at the bus, I kick off my shoes and lean against a wall to catch my breath. I have never done so much running in my life!
“I’m sorry it had to end so quickly,” Zayn apologises. “I didn’t think they would spot us.”
“It’s fine, honestly, I had a great time.” I say and walk to the bunk beds. I throw my shoes in my suitcase.
“How was it?” Beth asks me. I turn around to face her.
“It was great other than when the paps found us.” I tell her and she frowns.
“They always fuck everything up!” She groans and pulls me into a hug. “At least you had a great time. So tell me everything!”
I stared at the screen Zayn pushed in front of me. There were pictures of us holding hands and while we were sitting in the restaurant. Turns out they had been following us a while. I slide my hand through my hair and let out a groan. The fans were furious.
‘Who is this bitch! How dare she take Zayn away from us!’
‘She has guts taking Zayn away from Perrie. Zerrie should be together forever’
‘She’s obviously a whore, look at her hair!’
You get the colourful picture . . .
“Ignore the hate.” Zayn states and I nod. Why do they hate me so much? I couldn’t help but let the hate get to me. It hurt. A lot.
Zayn’s phone rings and he stands up to answer it, leaving his computer behind. I shut the screen down and lean my head back on the sofa and close my eyes. My phone then buzzes in my pocket and I take it out to only be faced with tons of Twitter notifications. Shit, they found out it was me!
‘Stay away from Zayn you slut!’
‘I can’t believe you would date him, he just got out of a relationship with Perrie and they’re supposed to be getting back together! #stayawayfromZayn’
More colourful Tweets . . . hashtag: brilliant.
“I can go out on dates with girls I like, Perrie!” Zayn yells from the hallway. All our heads snap to the side. Louis dramatically covers his mouth with his hand before continuing to type on his phone. “We’re not together anymore, you made that clear four months ago.”
Zayn then stamps into the room and sits down in his seat. “Fucking exes.” He growls under his breath before taking out his phone.
I refresh Twitter on my phone to see a Tweet from Zayn.
‘Just to clear everything up, Leah and I are not together. We just went on one date as friends, nothing more.’
The Tweet stung, but the whole situation was causing too many problems than it was worth. Directioners can be so crazy sometimes.
“Leah?” Zayn says and I turn to look at him. “Maybe it will be best if we don’t go on another date for a while.” I nod. His words were like a knife to my heart. Why can’t I ever be happy? I swear every single relationship I have with someone is doomed. I have the worst luck in the world.
Zayn then stands up and exits the room. Niall looks at me and gives me a kind smile and then takes Zayn’s seat.
“You look sad, you wanna go shopping? We have an hour before we leave for the arena.” Niall offers and I nod. I follow him to our beds where we slip on some shoes before exiting the bus.
“I heard what Zayn said.” Niall finally speaks up when we’re a few metres away from the bus.
“Okay,” I mumble in reply.
“You don’t need to be sad; he just cares about you and doesn’t want the hate to affect you. You’re quite fragile, anyone can see that, just give it time for the fans to realise that Zayn has moved on from Perrie and ‘Zerrie’ is long gone.” Niall says in an attempt to comfort me.
I give him a smile. “Okay, I understand.” I reply. “I’m just scared that all my relationships are just going to end, I’m scared of being hurt.” I admit and look at the ground as we walk through the town we have stopped in.
“I think I have moved on from him. I think I’m ready for a relationship. I can’t help but be scared of being hurt again.” I admit further.
“It’s great that you’ve moved on, but you can trust Zayn. He’s a good guy, he wouldn’t hurt you.” Niall assures me and I look up into his blue eyes. I give him a big smile.
“Thanks, Ni, you’re a great friend.” I tell him and he pulls me into a hug. We pull away quickly, in case a pap happens to be near.
“When are you going to tell Zayn about everything?” Niall asks and I shrug in response.
“I have no idea, maybe when we’re back home. I’m scared at how he’ll react though, he’ll be so mad that I have been lying to him the entire time.” I sigh.
“I’m sure he’ll understand, he has a big heart.”
We turn around and head back to the bus, after Niall claiming that he was really hungry and hadn’t thought of brining money. I had money but Niall refused to let me buy him lunch.
“Leah! Want to go out to lunch? We’re thinking of finding a McDonald’s or something.” Liam asks as soon as Niall and I step onto the bus.
“Sure,” I say and turn to Niall who agrees. Niall then goes to get some money and the rest of us wait outside the bus.
“We have barely spoken,” Liam states and I nod.
“I’m guessing this lunch trip was planned by you even though we have tons of pizza in the fridge?” I ask and he nods.
“Of course, Louis wasn’t happy about leaving the pizza though, but we can have that tonight.” Liam replies and I giggle.
“If we have to we can have it for breakfast.” I add.
“Weird, but that could work.” Liam comments. Niall then steps off the bus and we head towards the mall where we’re hoping to find a McDonald’s or another fast food restaurant.
“Do you have any fears?” I ask Liam, hoping to find something to tease him about since he won’t stop bugging me about the fact that I can’t stand Star Wars.
“I don’t have an…” Liam starts but is then cut off by Louis.
“He’s afraid of spoons!” Louis shouts in my ear. I cover my ear with my hand.
“Ow! Louis!” I shriek. My heart was hammering in my chest since I wasn’t expecting Louis to yell in my ear. “Seriously?” I ask Liam and he blushes which gives me proof that what Louis had said was right.
