“Niall, I’m scared.” I say into the phone.
“The others won’t hate you. You can just explain why, I can explain for you if I have to.” Niall assures me.
“Thanks, Ni,” I mumble. Less than an hour ago, Abbie left because she wanted to get back home before it got dark. I don’t blame her, I hate the dark too. Plus there’s always the worry that you could get mugged or crash your car into a tree or another car.
“I have nothing planned for tomorrow; do you wanna hang out if you’re free?” Niall asks me.
“Sure, as long as we can go out because I need to buy a car.” I say. I cross my legs as I listen to his reply.
“That’s fine; I know a few good garages where you could buy a nice car.” Niall offers.
“Thanks,” I say. “How long are you staying in London anyway?” I ask him.
“Until we leave for Australia, after we get back from the last leg of the tour I’m going back to Ireland.” He tells me. I smile, from what I have heard, Niall has a great family. My family is just broken. Dad won’t admit it, but we are. What sort of mum just leaves her daughter and husband without an explanation?
“Awesome!” I exclaim. “I’m excited to see Australia and New Zealand, but two weeks seems like a short amount of time for both places.”
“I know,” Niall sighs. “Hopefully we get to see a few places though. It would suck if we didn’t have enough time to go to a beach or visit places.”
“Hopefully,” I echo “Anyways, I gotta go, bye!”
“Bye!” Niall says and then I hang up and slip my phone into my pocket. I then get up off of the sofa and walk to the kitchen.
I scan my cupboards for anything to eat. Thankfully Dad had the great idea to make sure I had enough food for this week and for a few days after I get back from Australia. I would hate to have to starve and I didn’t really fancy going out to buy food. I pull out a pizza from the fridge and put it in the oven for fifteen minutes. While it cooks I check Twitter.
@amazing Leah: Waiting for my pizza to cook #yum
I didn’t expect any replies so I left the app and played a game until the timer beeped. I pull the pizza out of the oven and place it on a plate. I grab a knife and fork and walk into the living room.
I spent the following day with Niall; I had managed to buy a car (which was a Toyota Prius). I’m glad I met Niall; life would be so dull right now. For the first time in ages, I feel happy. If someone asked me today if I wanted to die, I would shake my head and say ‘no’. Why die now when life is actually getting better?
Currently, I am driving to my flat with Niall in my nice new car. It was second hand but it’s still new to me. “Do you fancy pizza?” I ask him curiously. I know I had pizza last night but I don’t feel like cooking. I can be really lazy sometimes.
“Sounds good,” Niall replies. “I’m meeting my girlfriend tomorrow; I really want you to meet her, how about you ‘accidentally’ bump into me at Nando’s tomorrow at twelve-thirty?” I laugh at his ridiculous idea. He couldn’t be serious.
“Good plan, Ni, but I don’t want to intrude on your date.” I reply.
“It’s fine, honestly, you don’t have to stay long!” Niall begs. I let out a sigh and roll my eyes.
“Okay, fine, I’ll meet your girlfriend.” I give in with a smile on my lips.
“Great!” Niall says. I park in my spot and climb out and Niall follows me up to my flat.
I pull my phone out and order a pizza as quickly as I could so I don’t ignore Niall for too long. I didn’t want to be rude. After I had successfully ordered three pizzas, I lock my phone and walk to the living room where he was sitting watching TV.
I collapse down next to him on the sofa and sink into the comfy cushions like they were swallowing me whole. “Football? Seriously?” I ask and he shrugs.
“I like football.” He tells me and continues watching men kick a ball around. People get paid tons for running. It makes no sense at all. It seemed like a pointless sport, to be honest. I prefer rugby.
“They get paid way too much.” I sigh and Niall ignores my comment. After sitting and watching football (which was extremely boring) for a good forty-five minutes, the doorbell rang. I jump up excitedly to answer it.
I open the door and take the three boxes of pizza off of the delivery-man; I pay him and give him a tip.
“Niall! Pizza’s here!” I shout out to him and shut the front door and lock it. I have this habit of always locking the door. I hate the idea that anyone could just walk into my flat. I go to the kitchen and grab two plates before going back into the living room. I pass Niall a plate and open the boxes on the coffee table in front of us.
“Wow, three pizzas!” Niall says happily and grabs a slice. I copy his actions and grab a slice as well and start eating it immediately. Pizza and football, I never expected that I would spend my evening this way. I never expected that I would spend any evening this way, to be honest.
After we both ate an entire three boxes of pizza, Niall helped my wash up the plates since I didn’t (unfortunately) have a dishwasher.
“Thanks for having me over,” He says and breaks the silence that was filling the kitchen.
“It’s fine, really,” I say as I put the plates back in the cupboard where they live. I turn to face him and give him a small smile. “At least I’m not spending this week on my own.”
“I gotta go now, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Niall says and gives me a wink before walking out of the kitchen. I follow him to the front door and unlock it for him.
“Bye, Niall,” I say and wave. I shut the front door when he’s gone and lock it before returning to the living room to watch TV.
While I’m on Netflix watching The Vampire Diaries, my phone vibrates in my pocket. I press pause on the TV control and answer it without bothering to check the caller ID.
“Hey,” I say into the phone.
“Hi, Diana!” Abbie says enthusiastically. “I really want a new place to live, and I was thinking somewhere near you. Do you know any available apartments?” She asks.
“You can just stay with me if you want.” I offer.
“Really?!” She exclaims. “Where would I sleep though, you only have one bedroom.”
“I have an office that is currently empty. It’s not too small. There’s enough room to swing a cat.”
“Really! That’s awesome! When should I move to yours?”
“Tomorrow evening, if you like. Not around lunch time, though, I’m busy.” I tell her.
She squeals. “Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m so excited! I would stay and chat but I have to pack! What about a bed and furniture? I can’t bring mine!”
“I can just buy you a new bed and furniture.” I tell her. “I have way too much money anyway; I have to do something nice with it.”
“Hmm, as long as you let me pay you back.”
“Deal,” I say.
“Well, I have got to go, thanks again, bye!” She says happily and hangs up. I lock my phone and place it on my lap before pressing play on the TV controls. Later I will have to clean the whole flat and the room and make some space in the bathroom for her toiletries.
It’s going to be so much fun living with my best friend, at least I have someone watching the flat while I’m gone and I know there will be food when I get home. I just hope she doesn’t make a mess while I’m gone, I hate cleaning the place. It’s so boring, but cleaning is never fun.
I sip on the coke I bought. I was early; I didn’t want to arrive at the same time Niall and his girlfriend arrive. It would look so suspicious.
One thing I hate about Nando’s is that you have to go and collect and order your own food. Pretty much like McDonalds but more expensive. I’m not complaining because it’s not like I barely have any money. I just think they would actually charge less for the food if you have to be your own waiter.
At the time Niall said, he walks in to the restaurant with his girlfriend who was holding onto his hand. She is beautiful; she had short red hair and blue eyes that you could spot from a mile away. Niall has a good choice in girls; I just pray that she isn’t using him. They look cute together. I wave to Niall as he scans the place and he spots me. He says something to his girlfriend and drags her over.
“Diana!” He says happily and I blush. I give them both a smile. “Kate, this is Diana. Diana, this is Kate.” He tells me.
“Hello, Niall has told me a lot about you.” I say. She gives me a warm smile.
“Hi, it’s nice to meet some of his friends.” She replies but she doesn’t return the smile. Maybe she thinks that Niall is cheating on her or something? Or she could just simply be jealous.
“Well, we better get a table, see you later.” Niall says and I give them both a small wave. I watch them walk off together, hand in hand. I got this feeling that Kate didn’t like me. I tried not to dwell on that too much as I ate my chicken.
